The World's End (d: Wright, s: Pegg, Frost) (Spring 2013... hopefully)

This hasn't officially been greenlit yet so it's kind of jumping the gun, but any news on a Wright/Pegg/Frost team up deserves some attention.

This concludes their "trilogy" and once again has a lot to do with pubs.

Wright, who’ll direct, wrote the script with Simon Pegg. Once again, Pegg stars with Nick Frost. Universal Pictures hasn’t yet green lit the film, but is expected to after the modestly budgeted pair of comedies grossed $108 million worldwide between them. The plan is for The World’s End to reach theaters in spring, 2013.

The logline: 20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hell bent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King, a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their home town and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub, The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.

The film is produced by Working Title partners Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner, and Nira Park of Big Talk Productions. Wright, who last directed Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, is separately adapting the series The Night Stalker for Disney as a star vehicle for Johnny Depp. Wright’s repped by CAA, Independent Talent Group and Anonymous Content.

Not getting a thrilling vibe from the synopsis but who am I kidding? I'm in.

Always look forward to the Edgar/Wright/Pegg collaborations. Just kind of bummed they're not spoofing something else a-la Shaun of the Dead or Hot Fuzz this time around.

About fucking time! Next time, tell them to stop wasting time announcing it and just shoot the movie. Geez.

The synopsis doesn't sound great, but I loved the other two.

So they are not doing another comedy together? I guess I'm not in the know about the trilogy.

Shaun of the Dead was awesome, Hot Fuzz was a major disappointment. I'll keep my expectations in check for this.

Re: The World's End (d: Wright, s: Pegg, Frost) (Spring 2013... hopefully)

Universal has confirmed that filming has begun on The World's End, from Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. Furthermore, Martin Freeman and Eddie Marsan have also joined the cast.

http://bloody-disgusting.com/news/31...ehind-cameras/

orking Title Films and Big Talk Productions have officially commenced filming on The World’s End, the third installment of Edgar Wright’s trilogy of comedies, following the successes Shaun of the Dead (2004) and Hot Fuzz (2007). The new movie is filming in the U.K. As with the first two movies in the trilogy, Universal Pictures International (UPI) will distribute The World’s End internationally and Focus Features will distribute it in North America.

As with the two earlier pictures, Mr. Wright co-wrote the script with Simon Pegg, who will once again star alongside Nick Frost. Joining the team are actors Martin Freeman (Shaun of the Dead, The Hobbit), Paddy Considine (Hot Fuzz, The Bourne Ultimatum), Eddie Marsan (Sherlock Holmes), and Rosamund Pike (Jack Reacher).

“In ‘The World’s End,’ 20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hellbent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King (Simon Pegg), a 40-year-old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their hometown and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub – The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.“

The World’s End also marks Mr. Wright’s third movie with Working Title and Big Talk, following Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz; The World’s End is produced by Nira Park of Big Talk and Working Title’s Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner. The film will be executive-produced by James Biddle, Mr. Wright, Mr. Pegg, Mr. Frost, and Liza Chasin.

Mr. Wright is also reteaming with such creative collaborators as director of photography Bill Pope, production designer Marcus Rowland, hair and make-up designer Jane Walker, editor Paul Machliss, stunt coordinator Bradley Allen, and VFX Double Negative. Guy Speranza is the film’s costume designer.

At first I thought that was Liam Neeson in the background.

Then I realized, I wish it was Liam Neeson in the background.

I'll watch anything the guys in the front row do but who the hell are the guys in the back? I'm thinking the one on the right was in Hot Fuzz as one of the annoying detectives but I'm not sure.
