I don't have a picture but in It's a Wonderful Life, the movie theater marquee shows The Bells of St. Mary's

I love when they show genuine theater marquees, but if I sniff out that it was faked (WB putting up a WB title that hasn't come out yet or fake movie titles) I get pissed. The marquee in Death Proof has been bugging me ever since it was released, it took me out of the sequence.

In Splash,

when Daryl Hannah and Tom Hanks are walking down Madison Avenue, there's a marquee for a theater showing

Raiders of the Lost Ark. Since Splash was 1984, this was probably Raiders' re-release.

I've been going to Manhattan theaters for almost 50 years. What theater was ever on Madison Avenue? The only one that was even visible from Madison was the Plaza on 58th Street, just east of Madison, and it was later known as the Fine Arts. And it was an arthouse and not the type of theater that would have shown RAIDERS. I don't have a copy of SPLASH in any format so I can't check it out for myself. Can anyone tell me the name of the theater seen in that shot?

Thanks.

In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles the movie Raphael goes to watch (disguised in a hat and trench coat of course) is Critters. When he leaves the theater he says "where do they get this stuff?" I've always thought that was pretty funny.

Re: the Lethal Weapon marquee. It wasn't Warners that put that in there - director Richard Donner did as a way of plugging his next movie (Donner directed both films).

/\ Donner only produced The Lost Boys. Joel Schumacher directed it.

Another studio in-joke, as Henry Travers (Clarence the angel) also starred in Bells.
