Saw it today. Didn't love it. It was overlong, had too many characters that should have been combined, and I didn't feel invested in the characters that the film did follow. The raid was tense, but it came at the end of a movie that felt twice as long as it actually was.

Also not enough Coach Taylor or Jack Harkness.

It's not a bad movie, I'd say it's solid. But it didn't grip me.

How would you rate it compared to The Hurt Locker?

I'd give Zero Dark Thirty 6/10. I'd give The Hurt Locker 8/10.

It's crazy how movies affect people differently.

I thought Lincoln was a colossal bore.

Zero Dark Thirty had me from the start. I was amazed at how well paced it was.

I'm generally someone who checks the time a few times during movies. The first time I did it during Zero it was already 2 hours in. I thought it might be boring with a 2 hour, 30-plus minute run time, and I was transfixed throughout the whole thing.

I do agree on the characters not really being memorable, but man I thought Bigelow just did an awesome job directing.

I've seen it twice now, and I think it lives up to the hype from the critics. IMO, it blew her last film out of the water.

I can't say I liked it better than Django, but man it's close.

I thought Lincoln had a few good moments, and Daniel Day Lewis was fantastic. But I'm not a huge Spielberg fan.

Zero Dark Thirty could have been an incredibly taught 90-105 minutes. I mean, any single episode of Homeland felt more tense than most of this film did. It just had too much bloat.

And with each passing review, I learn not to trust Supermallet's opinion more and more.

I don't ask anyone to trust me. I just call it like I see it.

Patman never gets this kind of shit.

You can never really trust anybody. I think "Magnolia" is one of the best and most entertaining films I've ever seen, and lots of people can't fucking stand that movie.

I like Magnolia too.

As far as reviewers, there's never anyone I found that I could totally relate to but I do use Rotten Tomatoes as a guideline a lot.

Yes, absolutely. In general, I like movies that are tight and focused. At the same time, my favorite movie of the year was Cloud Atlas, so I'm just a bundle of contradictions.

With only some minor exceptions, Cloud Atlas was actually a very tight and focused movie. It also moved at breakneck speed for as long as it was.

One of those movies that was long but still too short.

Yes, I agree. The absolute length isn't as important as the relative length. Neither 2001 nor Lawrence of Arabia feel as long as Magnolia, for example.

That's an odd rating in comparison to what you said.
