I think another original Arnold comedy would be fine but I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't see this opening weekend. I mean c'mon.

First Midnight Run, and now this. What other 1988 movies could use a sequel? Bull Durham? Big?

I think "Twinks" would have been a better title.

Thought it was a April Fools joke when someone was telling me about it last night...it almost sounds like it could be one..or at least should be one!

re: Triplets (sequel to Twins) S: Schwarzenegger, DeVito, Morgan

In a recent AMA done to help promote THE WEDDING RINGER Josh Gad, who decided to co-write (with Ryan Dixon) a sequel to the 1988 hit film TWINS, offered a few updates to someone who actually cared enough to ask:

Hi Josh, 1. How's your script coming along for "Twins 2: Triplets" (Arnold and Devito)? Does Universal Pictures still want to do this film right after Conan? 2. How has the lives changed for the Twins brothers (Julius & Vincent) 20 something years later? 3. Would you like to give yourself a role in Twins 2: Triplets? Perhaps as Arnold or Devito's son?

1) Uh, you know… the script is actually done. Everybody agrees that it’s great. We wound up doing 2 drafts. Universal, I think, hit the pause button temporarily for whatever reason – internally I think they are trying to figure out if they want to do a sequel or not. I would say if there’s an outpouring of affection, that may move the needle, but I think it’s on hold right now. But everybody read the script and loved it, so I hope it sees the light of day at some point. It’s there and in great shape.

2) Well, the lives have changed in that the two of them find themselves at a major crossroads where they’ve sort of grown apart over the years and what winds up bringing them together is a 3rd brother they never knew they had who could potentially be played by Eddie Murphy…

3) The answer to that is: most likely not, just because I wrote the film as a fan of the original movie TWINS. It was never written for me to be in it. Having said that, there is currently a role in the movie where Arnold has a son that looks like Danny, and Danny has a son that looks like Arnold. That could be fun, but as of right now, I have no intention of being a part of it.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit?
Red Heat
Shoot to Kill

^ These would all be awesome.
Although I suppose a Roger Rabbit sequel might be not as fun without Bob Hoskins (and I'm guessing Sidney Poitier - at 87 - is pretty much retired ).

I'd like to see a Red Heat vs. Dead Heat vs. Outer Heat crossover! Belushi/Schwarzeneggar vs. Williams/Piscopo vs. Caan/Patinkin.

For years, I've been wanting a Roger Rabbit sequel with Pixar's (and Dreamworks', other CG animation studios') characters added to the mix.

I'm sure people will point out exceptions, but comedy sequels seem to suffer from not living up to the original more than other genres. Twins didn't really leave me feeling like there was ever a need or reason to have another story. Adding in Murphy sounds awful, I can't remember the last time I enjoyed something he's done.

A modern version wouldn't interest me. The cool thing about the movie is that it takes place in the early days of animation with all the classic characters.

A sequel book to Roger Ravvit came out about a year ago. Not sure as to the quality though.

It's a shame they couldn't make that proposed Toon Platoon prequel. It seems securing the rights for the characters was an even bigger nightmare the second go around.

So Danny and Eddie Murphy and I — we believed in it 100%. And then Ivan believed in it 100%. So they’re writing it, and now everyone is enthusiastic about it. It will probably be done in the next month or two, and then hopefully we shoot it by this fall. It’s really exciting.

Schwarzenegger, completely in love with balancing his movie/TV work with politics, also gave an update on the Twins sequel, Triplets: that Eddie Murphy is attached and the script is finished. “Funny thing that happens in the mixing of the sperm,” said Schwarzenegger about the upcoming comedy.

Comedy sequels fail 99% of the time.

Can anyone name a good comedy sequel?

Wayne's World 2 maybe?

I think I enjoy The Spy Who Shagged Me more than the first Austin Powers. I don't mind American Pie 2 and Reunion.

American Pie 2 yea this is the exception where it was much better than the original IMHO.

I respectfully disagree. I loved Arnold in Kindergarten Cop, and thought he was hilarious in that. He also had many funny moments in True Lies...I too, feel this sequel is a horrible idea, but you have to admit Arnold does have some comedic chops...I just wish Eddie Murphy would start being funny again...Would love to see him in a hard R-Rated comedy...

Anything Eddie Murphy is attached to is bound to be awful.
