Re: New "Terminator" film coming...
The TV show added nothing to the lore worth having. Again...the core story of current day Connor ended w/ T2. NOW..the war vs. Skynet..yeah fine...Salvation was a good action movie. It wasn't a good Terminator movie.

Re: Terminator 5
If either The Terminator or T2 were released today, they'd get PG-13s. In fact, I can't believe T2 didn't get a PG-13 in 1991. It's mainly a "R" for language, NOT for violence - which is fairly mild.

Re: Terminator 5
Salvation wasn't bad. It's just Bale's one-note performance (and he's the reason I wanted to see the movie) and a third act that makes no damn sense (why even keep Kyle Reese alive as bait when the assumption he's alive would have been enough, you know, assuming John Connor didn't just vanish from existance?) are the only two things that drag it down. But overall it was a fun ride.

Re: Terminator 5
Fun ride my ass, that entire film was a complete waste of fucking time. Absolutely nothing was accomplished during the course of it. The movie ends exactly as it starts, the one difference being that John has now met Kyle Reese. La-di-fuckin-da. You can hardly blame Bale for a one-note performance when he's working with a no-note role. Worthington, Mr. Anti-Charisma himself, doesn't fare much better. So many potential ideas and fascinating new directions the story could've gone in expanding the Terminator mythology are completely flushed down the proverbial crapper. The reveal of Marcus as half-man/half-machine and Connor's subsequent confusion are effective scenes, but then that whole aspect of the story isn't delved into in any meaningful way. It's pretty much dropped completely. Instead we get some half-assed kissy-kissy facetime with a rebellion fighter pilot who, wouldnt you know, is a hot asian bitch that just stepped off the fasion runway. That little black girl with the afro, what was she supposed to be this franchise's own 'Feral Kid' or something? the fuck outta here, I've said enough about this POS. Fuck you McG.

Re: Terminator 5
McG did not write the screenplay. He sought out advice from James Cameron. Seemed like he did what a hired gun would have done in that situation. Blame the writers, which surprisingly Jonathan Nolan and Paul Haggis are part of.

Re: Terminator 5
And it was Bale who had Jonathan Nolan write all the John Connor scenes because Bale wanted to play him (despite the character only being a cameo in the original script) instead of the role he was originally offered, that of Marcus Wright.

Re: Terminator 5
I liked Salvation. Was it completely awesome and oscar worthy? No. But it was entertaining IMO. Heck, even the first one wasn't that big of success at the box office. It became kind of a cult classic. I think the sequel was the high point. They have all been entertaining and great summer popcorn flicks. I welcome another, and if its R rated, that much better.

Re: Terminator 5
I enjoyed Salvation as well. After watching the behind-the-scenes extras on the Blu Ray, I'd say McG really put some thought and effort into making a Terminator flick. T3 is forgettable for me though.
