I've seen all 9 Best Picture nominees and here's how I would rank them:
1. The Tree of Life.
2. Moneyball
3. Hugo
4. Midnight in Paris
5. The Descendants
6. The Artist
7. War Horse
8. The Help
9. Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close
1. The Tree of Life.
2. Moneyball
3. Hugo
4. Midnight in Paris
5. The Descendants
6. The Artist
7. War Horse
8. The Help
9. Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close

It seems similar to the argument that it's OK not to pay for digital products because the owner doesn't actually lose a physical item.

Midnight in Paris and The Descendants win the WGA.
I thought Moneyball was the front runner for Adapted, but it looks that will be The Descendants' runner up prize. Unless of course, that Clooney wins.
The Descendants has gotten some decent last minute momentum with an ACE win for Editing, and now WGA and Scripter wins.
Oscar night could be interesting if The Descendants wins Editing and Adapted Screenplay. Because that would then mean another head-to-head battle when Best Actor comes up. If Clooney were to win that, it might mean an upset is happening.
However, I still expect The Artist to take Picture, Director, Actor, and some techs.

And then the studios started to fuck us. No bonus features on the rental copies . Blu-ray only features (doesnt bother me now cause I mainly only purchase new titles on Blu but it is still wrong), 28 day (And now even 56 day waits!!!!) on new release rentals on netflix/redbox. Prices of blus, lack of good bonus material, etc.
I cannot feel sory for the studios. The artists get paid. They are not losing anything. I still try to support smaller films and when I do sneak into films I try to make it WB and Fox films since they fuck the consumer the worst (SHerlock 2 , ex.loud and incred. Close, etc.)
Thats my justification and rationality. If you don't agree then that's too bad I guess. Not gonna change my mind.

Oscar voters aren't always who you might think. - All this yearly fretting and arguing over which movies Meat Loaf and Erik Estrada think are the best!
Also mentions that nominee Viggo Mortensen declined membership because he "'does not like judging art officially.'"
The group includes former soap-opera star Lorenzo Lamas; 1980s comedy actors Steve Guttenberg, Cheech Marin, Judge Reinhold and Paul "Pee-wee Herman" Reubens; "Scream" queen Neve Campbell; and action-movie fixtures Vin Diesel and Jet Li. Of course, the group cannot force people to join. [Woody] Allen, a 23-time Oscar nominee and three-time winner, and [George] Lucas, a four-time nominee and recipient of the academy's Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award, have declined membership.

What's wrong with that though? Appearing in great art is hardly necessary to appreciating it. Politician John McCain has great taste in movies. So does porn star Sasha Grey. I can appreciate their fine taste, even if I don't support one's disgusting whorish ways, and the other's pornographic films.

It boggles my mind when you see the generic, talentless, director-for-hire guys with great tastes in movies. It's like... well?!

After watching Moneyball, I can now safely say "WTF" to Jonah Hill's nomination. I guess all he has to do is show up and not make jokes about smoking weed and farting for 2 hours to be considered alongside such luminaries as Max von Sydow.

I am having trouble getting through Tree of Life... heard a story out of France, that the theatre for a week straight put Reel 2 ahead of Reel 1, and no one noticed.. they just figured it was more of the odd editing...
