I actually like the idea of Leto in the movie. I can see him fitting in as a replicant. I still think he is a solid actor and I even didn't mind his Joker too much. This movie is shaping up real nice. I would say the weakest link at this point is Ford back as Deckard.

Did someone tell Leto this was an arthouse movie?

Blade Runner 2 Set Collapses Killing Construction Worker
Last month, production began on Warner Bros.' and Alcon's long-awaited Blade Runner 2, which brings back the iconic Harrison Ford as Rick Deckard, along with a slew of new cast members. We have word that tragedy has struck the set in Budapest, Hungary, when one of the sets collapsed and killed a construction worker. None of the cast and crew members were present at the time of this accident, which took place earlier today.
Mashable reports that the unidentified victim was dismantling the sets at Origo Studios in Budapest, after filming wrapped at the studio. This individual was working underneath a platform that the set was constructed on, when it suddenly collapsed, killing him. The cause of the accident was not made clear, but there will likely be an investigation.
Another report from Deadline reveals he was not part of the film's crew, but a sub-contractor hired to tear down the sets after filming was finished, with the cast and crew of this action sequel already moving on to another location. Alcon Entertainment has confirmed the death, but the studio hasn't issued any official statement at this time. It isn't known how long principal photography is expected to last for, but the sequel has already been given an October 6, 2017 release date.
Joining Harrison Ford is Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright, Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Carla Juri, Mackenzie Davis, Barkhad Abdi, David Dastmalchian, Hiam Abbass, Lennie James, Dave Bautista and the most recent, and final, casting addition, Jared Leto. Aside from Harrison Ford's Rick Deckard, no other characters have been confirmed at this time. The official announcement from Alcon teased that Jared Leto is playing a "truly memorable, never before seen character."
Denis Villeneuve is directing from a script by Hampton Fancher and Michael Green, and succeeds the initial story by Fancher and David Peoples based on Philip K. Dick's novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep. Alcon Entertainment acquired the film, television and ancillary franchise rights to Blade Runner in 2011 from the late producer Bud Yorkin and Cynthia Sikes Yorkin to produce prequels and sequels to the iconic science-fiction thriller. Cynthia Sikes Yorkin will produce along with Johnson and Kosove. Bud Yorkin will receive producer credit. Frank Giustra and Tim Gamble, CEO's of Thunderbird Films, will serve as executive producers. Ridley Scott and Bill Carraro will also executive produce.

Tragic ... but why would you shill and article about somebody's accidental death? I don't mean you WhySoBlu, I mean the author. Maybe I'm wrong, but more than half the article is the current industry PR for the film.
Then again, I'm about to post a cartoon.

The highly anticipated Blade Runner sequel finally has a name: Blade Runner 2049.
With plot points kept mostly under wraps, let the guessing games begin! Here’s what we do know: Harrison Ford returns as Rick Deckard — his iconic role from the 1982 original — alongside Ryan Gosling, to say nothing of an impressive supporting cast that includes Robin Wright, Jared Leto, Mackenzie Davis, Ana de Armas, Dave Bautista, Lennie James, and Barkhad Abdi.
Director Denis Villeneuve (Sicario and the upcoming Arrival), told EW that the events in the new film take place several decades after the Ridley Scott-directed original, and the setting is once again a future dystopian Los Angeles. Hampton Fancher, who was responsible for turning Philip K. Dick’s 1968 novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? into the Blade Runner screenplay, has returned for its sequel, along with Michael Green (Alien: Covenant). It was Fancher who was able to soothe Villeneuve’s pre-production nerves. “He told me that Blade Runner was a dream. We just have to dream again and not worry too much about logic. That removed so much pressure and gave me the key to move forward.”
Blade Runner 2049, from Alcon Entertainment, will arrive in theaters one year from today on Oct. 6, 2017.

The title reminds me of the "Total Recall 2070" TV show:

The title could have gone in so many cheesy directions, this may not be flashy but it's simple and that may be for the best.
