Michael Shannon doesn't look like Richard Kuklinski but he's a great actor.

This opens on Friday (limited release). I'm hoping one of the art house cinemas here screen it.

Re: The Iceman (Michael Shannon, Del Toro, Evans)

Good film, but I think I would have liked it alot more had I not read the book and known Kuklinski's story. He was a sick, twisted guy who killed plenty of people that simply had pissed him off. He also tortured plenty of his victims to death. His favorite was video taping you being eaten alive by starving rats.
Also, his family was very afraid of him, he was physically abusive.

Naturally the movie made it seem like he had two lives: one as a kind, loving husband and father and the other as a cold, calculating hitman who was only doing what he did to support his family.

That being said, it was a very well acted film and never boring. I was engaged the entire time. It's definitely worth checking out and I think non book readers will find it especially good.

So real life was more interesting than the movie?

What a painfully mediocre waste of good actors.

Man... Chris Evans was almost unrecognizable in this.

There wasn't much buzz about this movie upon release - did it do well, or did it tank?

Yeah, Chris Evans owned it up.

Movie overall was pretty good, because of the actors. But hearing that the story didnt reflect the true story kinda messes it up for me.

Don't let it mess you up too much, because no movie based on a true story is ever really a true story. It's based on, and that semantic sums it up.

Oh, I am aware of that... just that if he did beat his family, that shouldn't have been change for the movie. I think its too big a change to do.
