This looks like it could be really great or terrible.
I'm in for sure.

I was wincing through the whole trailer. I know a lot of people like the stage version, but a lot of people liked the stage version of The Producers as well and it didn't stop the movie (of the musical) from being unwatchable.

I don't know... I just don't know.
I want to like it but not feeling good about some of those songs turned into Broadway musical songs. Never saw the musical so maybe it works.

Holy crap that looks terrible. The whole "uptight conservatives versus enlightened partiers" plot has been done to death.

Didn't any of you people see http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/460339382/ ??
Adam Shankman knows exactly what he is doing with this. This is going to be a massive hit.

I'm shaking my head at you. No need to be so abrasive with your posts, you should be able to disagree and have a civil discourse without reverting to name calling and personal attacks. That's all. Peace.

That trailer gave me douche-chills. Seeing all those old actors in 80's big hair wigs prancing around like they're 23 singing music that hasn't been relevant in 3 decades = Epic Box Office Fail!

I agree with all this except that last part, especially with Crooze's epic box office success of Mission Impossible IV. This is pretty much a sure thing. Doesn't mean it'll be good though.

Wow. This looks epically bad. Btw, could they have found a worse wig for Alec Baldwin?

I know why Cruise did this. He hasn't done the Rock God thing yet and I'm sure it appealed to him. But why in the name of god are all these other actors, some very decent, doing this. Christ it looks like shite!

Re: 'Rock of Ages' (2012) [with Cruise, Baldwin, Brand]
Saw a screening of this two nights ago. I didn't really have any expectations going into this, but I am generally not a fan of the musical genre, although I enjoy the movies "The Sound of Music," "Sweeney Todd," and "Hairspray."
With that said, I didn't realize it was supposed to be funny at first. There's one dance/song scene in a church with Catherine Zeta Jones that is hilarious, but it was almost more funny because I felt so uncomfortable about how awkward she looked singing and dancing. I think it was supposed to be funny and I'm sure I'll feel less uncomfortable if I ever see it again.
Russell Brand was the comedic high point of the movie. Take that however you want. Paul Giamatti was pretty awesome as well. And I thought Tom Cruise did a great job as Stacee Jaxx, and Malin Akerman was fucking hot as the nerdy reporter who fell in love with him.
Jaxx's monkey named Hey Man was also pretty hilarious.
Probably the worst thing about the entire movie was Alec Baldwin, especially when it was time for him to sing and dance. He was so fucking wooden when he was dancing, I couldn't stop cringing. Him and Brand have the funniest scene of the entire movie though.
Also, Julianne Hough wasn't horrible, although it would be hard to call her a "good" actress. Surprisingly decent voice though. And MY GOD, her legs are absolutely amazing. She has the best legs in Hollywood, hands down. They are on full display from start to finish.
My major problem I had that bugged me throughout the movie was that these fictional characters were singing the songs of real-life people and bands, as if the fictional characters and bands are the ones who came up with them, and the real-life musicians did not exist. That really annoyed me.
Bryan Cranston was seriously underutilized. I don't know why he even took the role he did.
Finally, TJ Miller had a pretty funny cameo.
Overall, I guess I'd give it a 2.5/5.
