Adam Sandler is like the Van Damme/Seagal of comedies. Not great, but it's like comfort food.
The trailer looked worse the first time I watched it. It looks less bad now.

I saw the trailer for this in front of Our Idiot Brother on Saturday.
A good number of the people in the theatre laughed at most of the jokes/gags.
When it was over, the girl beside me said "That looks awesome!"
Humanity... you have failed us all.

I'm a pretty big Sandler fan, but this one looks like a stinker. One plus, I didn't see Rob Schneider hiding in there somewhere.

Anybody realize that Adam sandler only knows how to play rich people? It seems like all of his characters are rich, he can't even pretend to be poor.
Jack and Jill - Rich
Funny People - Rich
Grown Ups - Rich
Spanglish - Rich
Just Go With It - Rich
Billy Madison - Rich

Big Daddy - Middle Class
50 First Dates - Middle Class
The Wedding Singer - Poor/Middle
Happy Gilmore - Poor but eventually makes money
The Waterboy - Poor
I think he realized having money is more fun than not.

Yes, early on he played poorer people, but it seems like he forgot how to do that. His characters are rich for no reason, it doesn't add to the movie.

He was rich for a reason in Funny People...he was playing a successful comedian. Not that I enjoyed the movie, but it made sense.
Same with Billy Madison, he was supposed to be a spoiled son who learns a lesson.

I'm almost ashamed at how much I enjoy Adam Sandler movie, but I do applaud at the end of a good movie experience so there you go.

Yes, it is. Usually there's someone out there, critically speaking, that likes that shit. Guess...not so much this time?

I love this from the Time magazine review:
"More than 24 hours has passed since I watched the new Adam Sandler movie Jack and Jill and I am still dead inside."

Re: Jack and Jill (11/11/11) Adam Sandler playing his twin sister
I keep wanting to think this is a meta film that exists within another, better Adam Sandler movie. Like "Merman" from "Funny People" or something. I know Sandler prints money for Sony, but I can't believe anyone involved thought this was a good idea. I mean, you're talking about hundreds of people on a film set, working on this thing, reading this script, and no one thought to halt it at any time? Sandler is the fucking anti-christ if this manages to open around $30m and hit #1.

Nobody thought it was a good idea. They thought it would make money. And sadly, they were probably right.
