LA Peeps: One week run of The Man Who Fell To Earth at the Nuart
The Man Who Fell To Earth, the 1976 Nicolas Roeg film starring David Bowie, is being shown at the Nuart for one week in a newly struck print. Buck Henry will be doing a Q&A tomorrow at the 8:30 PM show, and Candy Clark will do a Q&A on Monday at the 8:30 show.
I'm going tonight. If you haven't seen the film, it's absolutely brilliant. Bowie plays an alien who comes to Earth to get water for his dying planet, but ends up getting seduced by drink, television, and wealth. A lot of people find Roeg's style unsettling, but I think it's unappreciated brilliance. You should go if you can.

I've owned this on CC DVD for years, haven't watched it yet. I'm going to L.A. on Mon, so there's a chance I might try to see if my gf wants to check this out. We were planning to see something while we're there.

Just got back. The movie looks great on film. This is the way to see it, without a doubt. I discovered so many nuances of composition and performance this time around. I can't recommend it enough.

here in DC, Landmark E Street begins it's one-week run next Friday (15th) - unfortunantly no Buck Henry or Candy Clark in attendence
