I liked it. Hans was a cool cat--he went right after those trolls without flinching. I wish the final battle had been a little longer and more harrowing. But pretty entertaining overall.

It was ok, nothing special. The trollhunter was the star of the show and never let it be said that the Norwegians were above fart jokes.

Bummer. I don't get that channel and no search could find a free version of the movie on my guide. Dammit, was looking forward to it.

Had a flight this weekend so I splurged and rented this through iTunes. I really enjoyed this movie a lot.

Lately I've been burned by films getting good word of mouth on the internet, especially ones that were good "considering their budget," but this one really lived up to that hype.

Re: Trollhunter-2011 (Dir-Ovredal)

I watched this on VOD in HD over the weekend and LOVED it. Easily one of the best "found footage" films of recent years. Story moved at a great pace - the camera picked all the right moments to be on or off. The effects looked great, though having the cloak of night to cover things certainly helped. Even my gf thought it was awesome. I'm sure a remake will only suck a big one because this was excellent already.

BD has been announced for 8/23.

Re: Trollhunter-2011 (Dir-Ovredal)

saw it this afternoon and what a hoot of a movie - it was a weird yet fun hybrid of a film that combined elements of 'Blair Witch' 'Incident at Loch Ness' 'Jurassic Park' and 'Where the Wild Things Are' (the elusion to the Three Billy Goats Gruff had me rolling) - the 5.1 Dolby Digital soundtrack over at E Street really pumped up the volume and bass to spectacular effect - guilty pleasure of the summer so far! (booo - on the remake news - why fix something that ain't broke in the first place)

Re: Trollhunter-2011 (Dir-Ovredal)

Caught this tonight. Definitely enjoyed it. Really had no expectations going in, but it turned out to be a lot of fun.

I thought everything with the trolls was awesome, but the "non troll" stuff dragged just a little bit.

The ending had me on the edge of my seat.

We'll see what happens with the remake. I never get bent out of shape when movies get a big budget or American remake, but I do wonder how it could be improved upon. I thought the trolls looked great even with the small budget.

What a cool film.. and one that's better than Blair Witch, Cloverfield and Monsters. My only gripe was that they really didn't linger
Spoiler:
about the death of their first cameraman
. I thought it brought a nice, somewhat realistic approach to the existance of the trolls.

And unless I somehow missed it, you would think the new camera girl would kinda freak out a little bit when she sees her first troll, yet I don't remember there even being a reaction from her.

Caught it on Netflix as well this weekend and enjoyed it quite a bit.

I figure maybe she was just in awe and was speechless...
I thought the best part was
Spoiler:
when Hans has his suit of armor on... total holy shit moment when that troll bashes the shit out of him and tries to eat him.

I don't see how a remake could do justice to the original.

Re: Trollhunter-2011 (Dir-Ovredal)

Just saw this on Amazon Instant Video. I bought the BD from Amazon...but it just loads up to the menu screen...but no actual menu. Anyone have any ideas as to wtf that issue may be? I even had Amazon replace the BD for me..same damn thing.

About the movie itself? Holy fuck was this fun. It feels real cuz you know nothing about trolls here in the US. We don't have shit here. The shit that Hans knew and whatnot. Goddamn. It was actually kind of getting me to tense up to cuz...they're trolls. I don't know how they act. They're VERY unique in visual for sure. I was actually getting nervous for these people in seeing how the fuck they were going to get out of it.

The kids get kind of annoying at times but they're overall ok. Hans and what he does is worth the price of admission alone. Very unique film. I loved it. Wish my PS3 could play the BD. I emailed Magnet about it today too. Can't play the BD to a fucking cool film.
