I've heard of guys writing their names in the snow, but this is ridiculous...

Pretty cool poster, especially given the subject matter, but I can't imagine why anybody, especially a guy, would actually want to own the poster.

Buy the poster, frame it, and then tell people that originally it was just a picture of a back before you got your hands...and other things...on it.

I managed to finally see this movie over the weekend. All i can say is that it was as good as i anticipated it to be. Fassbender and Mulligan really are some of the finest people in acting today. They both do an amazing job. The story really has great style in showing you these characters and the world they live in. It always pleases me when i see a movie show a locale (New York here) in a way that feels fresh and alive. The city itself is an integral character. A place where a character like Brandon can lose himself. Some people will find the movie shocking, but compared to what anyone could see on the internet in a couple of clicks of a button, its pretty mild. It never felt gratuitous which is where films like this walk a fine line and many overstep their balance. Steve McQueen is a very talented director and i can only hope that he continues to go from strength to strength as a film maker.

Re: Shame (2011, Dir: McQueen) Fasbender and Carey Mulligan
Finally started playing in San Jose this week, so a buddy and I checked it out after missing it's run in Santa Cruz and Los Gatos.
We both really liked it, and now 24 hours later the more I think about the more I'm thinking it was a four star movie. All the performances (especially Fassbender) were excellent. I really liked how the movie left certain things implied. Excellent character study, and I completely agree that it was a pretty unsexy movie (but yea, some very attractive ladies show all).
Complaints I have seen are not getting into the characters and sex addiction not being a thing, but I disagree. Shame was an excellent movie, I'm thinking the second best movie of 2011 for me.

Went to see this last night and while I had some issues with it as a complete package, I don't think a movie has ever emotionally drained me before like this one. I've been having a tough time the past few months and the raw feelings of hopelessness and being alone really tore me up. Fassbender's performance will likely go unappreciated the same way Gosling's did for DRIVE, because it's a largely physical performance. I don't think I'm mentally capable of experiencing the film a second time though.

I saw this today. I found myself uncomfortably relating myself to Fassbender's character.
It was very blunt and I appreciated that quite a bit. Carey Mulligan's introduction jarred me a bit. In Drive, she was like this perfect innocent angel. Here she was... raw.
About the ending.
All in all, very good but not great like I had hoped.

Fassbender is simply brilliant in this role. He should've been up for Best Actor.
I also don't think I can ever watch this film a second time.

The scene where

Shit ton of female nudity. You see more of that in compared to Fassbender's dick if that's what you mean.

Good film, glad it didn't end quite as badly as it looked like it was going to. Not a film you'd watch on a date or with a group of friends, but one that you tend to study, rather than just watch for entertainment.

Excellent film, but I don't think I need to see it again. It wasn't as nearly as depressing as some people made it out to be imho. Anybody living in any major metropolitan city probably knows dozens of guys like Fassbenders character.

Agreed. I would not show this for one of my movie nites with beer/pizza.
