Cue tired Michael Cera joke in 3..2..1...

This looks pretty funny. Eisenburg's deadpan delivery always makes me laugh.

Aziz: "What the fuck, is that thing real?! And your first thought was to come to a school, filled with young children?!"

Everything after that was sorta iffy for me, but the first half of the trailer was pretty funny.

Zombieland was one of my favorite movies last year so I'm pumped for this.

Re: 30 MINUTES OR LESS (2011) (dir. Fleischer) (Eisenberg, McBride, Ansari)

Thought this was a movie about the pizza guy in Eerie, PA who was forced to rob a bank after a group of people strapped a bomb collar to him. The guy ended up dying on live tv when the collar exploded as they waited for the bomb squad to arrive. I think it happened in 2003. Kind of odd that they are making a comedy, I would assume they had knowledge of this event when they wrote it.

I live in the Grand Rapids area right now and I saw some of it being filmed downtown. It's fun to watch the trailer and see the pizza place that I have passed by every day for years. I love the three stars of this, so that, plus being excited to see Grand Rapids on the big screen has me pumped.

You know, I like reading about all of that 'caught on TV' stuff. But I never heard that story until now. That was some crazy reading/viewing. Thanks for the info.

This movie looks funny.

Can't stand Ansari -- typically the worst part of everything.

I love Aziz Ansari, usually the best part of anything. I loved Zombieland, so I was down for anything Fleischer did next, but this looks awesome. Extremely good cast and an out there premise. Can't wait.

This looks totally hilarious, but I still can't believe they turned that story into a comedy film.

Re: 30 MINUTES OR LESS (2011) (dir. Fleischer) (Eisenberg, McBride, Ansari)

Eisenberg: "Guess what? You just brought a gun to a bomb fight officer."
Cop: "Ah fuck!" *runs away*

---

What's weird about this movie is something sorta similar (someone having a bomb strapped to them to get them to rob a bank) happened in Miami not too long ago.

Earlier this year three guys broke into a bank teller's house one night and held him and his dad at gunpoint. The next day, one guy stayed behind with the dad and two of the guys strapped a bomb to the bank teller and drove him to the bank he worked at in his own car, telling him to go inside and get as much money as he could or they would remote detonate the bomb. Then, they sent the guy back inside again and left, presumably meeting up with the third guy and ditching the bank teller's car somewhere. I don't think they ever caught them either.

Of course, in this movie it seems as though Eisenberg could just go to the police and have a bomb squad defuse the bomb since it doesn't seem like the bad guys are keeping an eye on him or anything.

Hm, this could be alright. I'm very conflicted about Aziz Ansari. He seems like a cool guy, I'm sure he'd be fun to hang out with...but I've hated some of his roles (Scrubs intern, "RAAANDY", Parks and Rec). I also think his standup is terrible. I did however like Human Giant. This movie might redeem him.

Re: 30 MINUTES OR LESS (2011) (dir. Fleischer) (Eisenberg, McBride, Ansari)

If you don't like Aziz's schtick, he'll drive you nuts in this movie. (I personally don't see how someone could LIKE Human Giant but hate Parks & Rec and his standup but whatever) I happen to LOVE him and thought he killed it in this movie. I got to see 2 promo screenings in the last two days (was late to the first one so had to see it again).

30 Minutes or Less is brisk as hell, it clocks in at like 85 minutes and moves like a bullet train. Jesse Eisenberg is great as the burnout who gets strapped to a bomb. He's got a lot of laughs and one really good emotional scene on a rooftop. Aziz is hilarious and manic, with lots of great lines throughout. I really like when the movie starts to get a bit crazy, with the bank heist and the introduction of Michael Pena. He steals the movie as a hitman for hire, he gets very little screentime but makes the most of it.

I usually love Danny McBride but he is starting to feel stale. Him and Nick Swardson both have some good moments, but there is not a lot separating this screw up character from his other characters, with a potty mouth, shit for brains and unfounded confidence.

A lot of the best bits are shown in the redband trailer's we've gotten, but I do highly recommend the movie - it breezes by and is a lot of fun. "That's some John McClane shit!" 4/5

(check gofobo to see if there are any promo screenings in your area).
