The way it's tracking, Monsters U seems to be along the same lines as Cars though, and I think a lot of people were a bit wary when it was announced as a prequel and we found out the premise. The way the critic reviews are tracking, it certainly seems closer to Cars then it does their other work. And I actually liked the first Cars movie quite a bit (not so much the 2nd).
