i did enjoy the books for what they were and the trailer looked fine. I can see complaints on he horrible looking costume designs but imo it works for how the books described fashion in the capital. ill def be checking it out.

I'd like to see some ratings evidence for this "huge" teen girl fanbase you speak of. But even if thats the case. The fact remains that Sci-Fi is not a genre that typically appeals to teenage girls.

I second this. Twilight is just a bunch of teen romance with vamps and werewolves. Hunger Games has all this political intrigue in it...it's extremely edgy for a "kid's" book series. Hunger Games is much closer to Harry Potter than Twilight in terms of writing quality.

Teen girls are more into fantasy than sci-fi, but there are many, many fans of this series. I read the first one expecting fantasy but it's definitely closer to sci-fi ("speculative fiction" is probably the best term mentioned so far). I don't think this will need "genre" fans to succeed.

Many of you are severely underestimating the popularity of this series. The movie is going to be HUGE.

She is not Bella Swan, she is a heroine (That is what I gather from talking to my wife about it)

There's not a teenage girl in this country who knows what Doctor Who is.

Yeah this definitely has a huge female following, I'm not sure if people are joking on that point (of being sci-fi fans, etc). I was convinced into reading the trilogy by a few female friends, and really enjoyed them. Though the first book was my favorite, and they start to drop in quality after that.

Still looks great to me. All of the pre-publicity has been spot-on. I have high hopes.
