Apollo 18 (April 22,2011 Lopez-Gallego)
I'm typing this on my phone so there is a good chance someone will beat me to this (if there isn't a thread already)
The premise is that there was a DoD funded mission to the moon in 1973 and this is the footage. Shows the reason why we never went back.
Love the concept.
Here is the link, someone wanna embed the trailer for me? Thx

Sounds like a great idea for a horror movie but I didn't really care for the trailer too much. I'll still check it out though.

You guys are pretty much echoing my thoughts. This is an incredible premise, and it had me really excited. But I watched the trailer and I was just... whelmed.

It's way too predictable IMO; the missing crewmember, the infected crew member, the "we can't leave yet because 'blank' won't let us" device.

I don't know...I think the trailer looks decent. It's only two minutes long...I will see how the reviews are before deciding to see it or not. But I love sci fi and horror, so here's hoping it's good!
And good horror is welcome any time of the year!

It looks boring. This would have been cool a decade or so ago but now? Meh.

Interesting premise, but I don't know how they're going to fill a full movie with this material unless it's a fake documentary, and not completely comprised of "found footage" ala BWP, Cloverfield or Paranormal Activity. Otherwise, it's two people in a very confined space for ninety minutes. Those old Apollo landers were tiny.

Wow. Very mediocre reaction. I love moon movies. I find the moon very mysterious; we've been there, but we know so little about it. So, the moon+horror/sci-fi= my ass in the seat. Disclaimer: I also liked Moontrap.

Yeah I don't know. My opinion is similar. Cool premise (why we haven't gone back to the moon) but very meh trailer. Didn't seem interesting, scary or creepy. Just the same old alien infection movie that's been done to death. I'm interested enough to check out the reviews but I'll probably only watch it if it gets good reviews.

That could still work greatly as a film. I think if they had taken the route of Blair Witch where we don't actually see the monster or only bits and pieces, that would be pretty awesome.

Intriguing story concept, but I find the found footage structure to be a poor choice for a period piece. I certainly don't recall security cameras being so prevalent in the '70s, and don't see how the video feeds would have been recorded 24/7. Nerdy observations I know, but they kill the conceit. I would have rather seen the concept told in a normal narrative.

The main thing that makes me leery of the movie is the final reveal of what is terrorizing the astronauts on the moon. Because it seems no matter what it was we'd mount a mission to capture one of the creatures. Or mount an attack on the creatures. So it would have to be something so terrifying that the most powerful nation on Earth (at the time, at least!) decides to back away. And I get the feeling it's not going to be that terrifying.

I guess I'm too much of a stickler for accuracy. How do you keep the launch of a Saturn V rocket a secret? Even if it was in a remote location, it would've taken years to build several facilities to handle the assembly and launch of such a large rocket. To me, that would help in making the concept plausible.
That aside, could be interesting. I will keep an eye out for it.

awesome premise, but the trailer is lackluster. It feels like I have already seen that kind of movie before. Hopefully its good cause the premise is pretty sweet.

Moon landings are big and noteworthy. Even if it's old hat by that point (with 12 people having done it), it's still noteworthy. People would notice. It's not something NASA would be able to sweep under the carpet.

Twelve people, huh. Never happened, man. It was proved (PROVED!) that the moon landing was done in Burbank somewhere.
