Well saddly this guy I dont think has ever read a discription of what Uncharted games are about or seen the game based on this anwser to IGN.
IGN: Of all the video game movies, why was Uncharted the one for you?
David O. Russell: Because it's centred around a family, and I like the combination of criminals and truth. These guys they're tough but they're working on this crazy case, and they can't do it without truth. I think that's cool
This movie is sadly going to suck.

What the hell?! Did IGN follow up the question with "What part of Uncharted are you talking about?"

Were his pupils dilated when he gave such an clueless and idiotic answer?

Based on those comments, I think that Uwe Boll would do a better job than this Russell.

I think if we take that family dynamic that we have in The Fighter, and put that in terms of a grander stage, with a crime family that metes out justice in the world of art and antiquities. If you're the head of a museum, or head of state, you've got to deal with them, and they're badass.
They're like the Sopranos in some ways, but they have great taste, and they have a sense of justice.
I want the gamers to be happy. I have total respect for the game. My kid loves playing it, I love playing it.

I heard David O. Russell was going to direct a Rock Band movie but he couldn't relate emotionly to the sci-fi action and never ending cut scenes.

I have to believe he's thinking of another game, there is no way he could be that ignorant to the property to which he is supposedly "adapting." I mean those quotes are too unbelievable.

Interviewer: So what made you want to be involved in an Uncharted movie?
David O. Russell: I just love the concept of going around eating dots and being chased by 4 multicolored ghosts... it really speaks to me.

Similarly, he was slated to do a Metal Gear Solid movie but was put off by the legions of casual gamers who would demand that its simple "connect three gems in a row" gameplay be scrupulously maintained in the film.

Whatever. The movie will be fine as long as they don't modify Sly Cooper too much.

Russell was going to reboot the Mario franchise a few years ago but it fell apart when he couldn't find the right actress to play Aeris. It's too bad, because the sets they built for medieval Acre looked fantastic, especially the moon base.

I think a David O Russell action adv enture movie has great potential.
I'll just...have to put aside any expectations it'll have some relation to the video game. But being a horrible adaptation doesn't equal it being a bad movie. I mean...it may not resemble the game, but it'd still be better than anything Uwe Boll has done. Unless you value faithfulness to source material over like...good filmmaking.

Oh and I love the utter idiocy in this quote:
I want the gamers to be happy. I have total respect for the game. My kid loves playing it, I love playing it. I just want to create a world that takes it to another level, that's another amazing world that's more cinematic.

Sad thing is this isn't his first time doing this. His debut film was supposed to be an adaptation of Donkey Kong Jr. until Nintendo forced him to change the name to Spanking the Monkey because it no longer resembled the source material.

Um, even if we completely ignore the game (which seems to be exactly what he's done) his concept is an utter piece of shit. It reminds me of how clueless Uwe Boll sounded when he commented about his idea for Metal Gear (in which he envisioned Solid, Liquid, and Big Boss as best buds who would hop around the globe saving the world).

Re: Uncharted: Drake's Fortune (David O. Russell to Write/Direct)
Why cant the writer and creators of Uncharted games make their own film version after they're finished making the 3rd game? If they own the rights, cant they make it on their own and release it independently?
