Survival of the Dead -- George Romero's next Dead film

USA Today has an article on the new film with the first official photo. George says it's going to be like Dawn of the Dead with a lot of action.

Neither Land or Diary were very good, but I'll still see it.

I liked Diary but thought Land was a pile of crap. I'll check this one out when it's released.

I liked Land, but it's getting a little old, isn't it? Surely he could do a movie without zombies?

Anyway, it sounds like this one has merit, one of the most appealing things to me about Land was that it took place years after the initial outbreak and showed how life evolved/devolved for mankind, not people acting like it was a learning process.

Could he make one? Yes. Could he get someone to finance it? Probably not.

uhm...he has done films without zombies...his most popular ones ARE the one with zombies. I've no idea if his non-zombie films are good or bad. But his Dead series seems to be good, except Land. Oh god, I hated Land. Haven't seen Diary yet...but that may be bad too.

I enjoy Land for what it is, but I feel like the entire movie misses a third act.

Diary, especially after following Cloverfield, was a gigantic misfire.

Of course, I'll see anything with Romero and Zombies, so I'll be there.

Diary of the Dead is one of the worst movies I've seen in theatres recently. Land of the Dead was flawed, but watchable.

After Diary, I'm only going to this if it has unanimous praise.

Good non zombie Romero films:

The Crazies
Martin
Knightriders
Creepshow (Ok it has zombies but it's not a zombie film)

Same here, though I waited to see Diary of the Dead on DVD I still hated it with a passion.

Land of the Dead was better but it was completely forgettable, Honestly, with the exception of a big skyscraper and an armored bus, I really don't remember anything about it.

I'll see this new one but I'll wait for it on DVD.

I've said before and I'll say it again after 5 movies why not come up the conclusion to the series. PLANET OF THE APES, STAR WARS had a final ending in their series.
Just make one that answers all the questions and then if you want do remakes like they do nowadays.

Not to derail this thread or anything, but; I would absolutely love to see Romero and Robert Kirkman work together in order to try and bring The Walking Dead to HBO or Showtime as a new series. The material is perfect for screen adaptation and in my humble opinion, would really bring Romero back to his roots as long as he stayed on as a producer or creative consultant. Only after a season of that will he be truly ready to bring another 'Dead' picture back to the big screen and have it be a success.

Hey--a guy can dream, can't he?

I still wonder what a Resident Evil film would've been like if he did it. He was going to, but Sony and Romero couldn't agree on the script or the way to make it...or something. All i know is that Romero would've been, I would assume at the least, great to have direct the film. I think it was going to be like the first game.

Why even wish for that to be anything more than something you dream about. It's been clear that Romero lost it a long time ago and can't make a good zombie film anymore. Why allow him to piss on the walking dead.

It would make a good HBO series. But I wouldn't want Romero to have any hands on it as he would just turn it into some social commentary heavy handed piece of shit.

Walking dead has a nice subtle social commentary as it is. No need to have it beaten across your face with Romero's work.

In that he came up with an idea that was original decades ago and can't come up with another, milking every last drop from the first idea and then some...even though with each installment, it waters the original down and the movies are varying degrees of terrible.
