Well, to be fair, it was probably the best modern 'gorno' movie - other than the Hostel movies. It was still a 3-star movie. The microwave scene is good and sick.

Eli Roth's Hostel is pretty much the only really good gorno (or just modern, slick horror movie) out there, in my opinion. The subgenre seems to have the same fate as Tarantino's 'cool crime' Pulp Fiction influence. So many people seem so heavily inspired by it. But it's mostly bad, with a few acceptable-to-good rips here and there.

As for this movie, I just don't really care. Maybe I'll catch it on cable some day. But I really don't think I'll give it attention at the movie theater or on DVD.

Re: I Spit On Your Grave (2010)

The "Last House on the Left" remake wasn't bad, but it was still unnecessary, hence "we didn't need it".

And for the record, I loathed "Hostel".

So, from the original, classic tagline "This woman has just cut, chopped, broken, and burned five men beyond recognition...", to...

Sounds like it is being marketed to the teen crowd. Next announcement will be a PG-13 rating.

No sodomizing "Hurdy-Gurdy" rape on a rock, no sale.

I saw the trailer for this before "Iron Man 2"! Looked OK, but too much CGI.

Re: I Spit On Your Grave (2010)

So we get a second remake of this. There is a J-splotation version called I Spit On Your Remains. I might check this out, I did see Last House in theaters and it seemed like a Lifetime TV movie with naughty words.. Everybody was too clean in LHOTL remake, not dirty and nasty like in the original I expect the same from this

Re: I Spit On Your Grave (2010)

I actually think the original is one of the best rape/revenge movies out there, and I doubt this will improve on it. Pass.

The only way I'll sit through this is with the Joe Bob Brigg's commentary.

I was about to mention that because I remember hearing about it. I've never seen the original. Before DVDs existed, I remember the lady at the video store recommending this movie.

The girl is too attractive for a horror movie.

Ok, but did any of those do well at the box office? Maybe my idea of horror is the girls from "Exorcist" and "The Shining."

Well, I am sure as hell not going to watch an I Spit On Your Grave remake with Shelley Duvall in it.
