I wouldn't say I was interested in The Avengers... was just curious what the hubbub was. Of all the Avengers, I know The Hulk the best mainly due to the TV show in the 70's. The rest I've either only heard of but knew nothing about... or never even heard of at all. I wasn't into comic books as a kid.

You hadn't heard of Thor? He's got a whole day named after him!

Well Hulk WAS an integral element of the first Avengers comic, almost 50 years ago...

I meant, in both of the two movies (of which I really liked "The Incredible Hulk") the Hulk is nowhere near ready to be a "team player"... he's still a raging beast... hardly someone to be counted on to slide down the firepole and jump in the Mystery Machine with everyone else when the shit hits the fan... so what sort of role will he play here?

If you recall, at the end of the The Incredible Hulk it looked like he was gaining control of his transformations.

yeah, Banner's got control of The Hulk.

Based of Norton's Hulk. I'm going to go with that Banner ain't exactly game w/ working for government. I'm going go w/ some shit goes down. SHIELD gets the group together to restrain Hulk. Something big w/ Loki happens. Hulk is grudgingly part of the team. Big fight.

I will geek out pretty bad if we do get a Hulk vs. The Avengers. Especially w/ Cap somehow trying to take him down considering we got a small taste of w/ Blonsky vs. Hulk. h

The end of TIH was referenced in it's own way during the Avengers trailer.

I think The Hulk will be an initial threat in The Avengers, but finally join the team to repel Loki and the rumored
Spoiler:
Skrull invasion.

Given how Captain American ended, I could see the film ending on a semi-cliffhanger of
Spoiler:
Red Skull helping Loki escape Earth and usher in the coming of Thanos.

Which is why he was an Avenger for precisely two issues.

The recent animated series did a great job on showing how the Hulk could be used in the movie.

Next thing you know they'll try and stick Ant-Man in there as well!

He's smaller so it'd be much easier to include him. Heck, he could be in it but just be so small we'd miss him in every scene.

Wasn't there talk of a Ant-Man film at one point? Marvel didn't mention it at the Con so I don't expect anything to happen with it soon... but maybe for the 2nd film.

I think they don't want to muddy the waters with him since the Edgar Wright movie is still in development.

yeah, Edgar Wright wants to do Ant-Man. Didn't he want to do Scott Lang? Or was he going for Pym?

Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish have been writing Ant Man for-fucking-ever.

Re: The Avengers - May 2012 - D: Joss Whedon

I have been curious on how Thor is going to return to earth. I don't think Hemidall is the "fix-it" type.

Spoiler:
Then in CA we see that the cosmic cube is a part of the yydasril(tree of life) that connects to Asgard. I think the first part of Avengers will be Prof Selvig will figure out(with help from Loki's wispers) how to access the cube to bring Thor back to earth. Maybe to help calm down the Hulk to start.

That's what I was thinking as well. It would make a lot of sense.

They do a good job, but it's sort of a disservice to the character since he was never controllable in the comics and was not that good at being in control of himself.

yeah, love the cartoon but Hulk being around that long sans Banner didn't make good internal conflict.

This is certainly not true.
