My first thought was "So that's what Alan Smithee looks like." but xage fits too.

My mother-in-law has a copy on VHS. I told my wife never to get rid of it.

If I had copies on VHS, I would record them being burned and send him the video

Maybe Alan Smithee should do a Kickstarter to buy his apartment building and turn it into a museum of VHS. He could use it to show the world the superiority of 240 lines of resolution.

Nice reference to The Simpsons in the thread title change.

Wouldn't that work in his favor? His goal is to own every VHS copy, not "every VHS copy that ever existed."

"I've got a great idea for a sequel to Speed."

"Okay. Shoot."

"We'll do the same thing, only this time, on a cruise ship."

"You're fired. Get the fuck out of my office."

----

The preceding was a vignette from my anthology screenplay entitled If the World Made Any Goddamned Sense At All. Kickstarter donations welcome.

Well then fine. Start a Kickstarter to fund buying up VHS copies to have a bigger collection than he has.

Too much work. To get back to your video idea, send him a video of you burying a VHS copy in the middle of a nondescript field or desert. That way the tape still exists, but he can't get his hands on it.

Just make sure you don't bury the Kiefer Sutherland version.
