The "If I See That Trailer One More Time..." Thread
Someone started a thread a year or so ago about movie trailers that were played to death. And, at the end of that thread, the winner was clearly "Vantage Point". Which I agreed. Until now. Anyway, I tried to find that thread to continue this discussion and couldn't find it, so I apologize for this new one. But I think the new champion is "Shutter Island". Jesus Christ! I go to the theater to see a movie at least once a week and I've seen that trailer before each feature for the past two months. At LEAST! And the film doesn't even open until February (now). Thankfully they have a newer trailer. Which I just saw for the first time before "Paranormal Activity". Still, enough already.
What trailers have you seen ad nauseam? |

Re: The "If I See That Trailer One More Time..." Thread
If I have to see the trailer for Shutter Island one more time, I'm going to burn down the theater.
I'm happy A Christmas Carol is opening this week because that's another trailer I've seen every goddamn time I've been to the movies. |

Also it seems like that Cirque de Freak trailer played before every movie released after July.

Re: The "If I See That Trailer One More Time..." Thread
Not only did I see the fucking trailer for Vantage Point 100 times in the theater, I managed a Blockbuster when this movie came out, so I also had it on my in-store play for about a month. I had to listen to it for 8+ times a day. I still have it memorized.
Currently, it's The Road. Not because it's a bad or annoying trailer, it's because it's VERY misleading, and doesn't really represent what the book was about.

Re: The "If I See That Trailer One More Time..." Thread
I sat through god-knows how many screenings of the trailer for The Soloist. Again, it was a movie that they started with the trailer months before the movie was opening. It didn't help that the trailer was long... tried to make the movie looking stirring and emotional but I thought it just looked schmaltzy. After awhile I`d just stare down into my lap till the awful thing was over.

I have a feeling Toy Story 3 will become one that gets played ad nauseam. I love Buzz, Woody and the gang but we've got 8 months worth of trailers till that movie opens.

I'm glad we don't have to see the trailer anymore, but WTF are they thinking opening it so damn early? I can see Thanksgiving weekend, but this will almost be ready for dvd by the time Christmas really hits.

Same thing happened with The Santa Clause 3 and Fred Claus. I agree it is annoying to release a Christmas movie before Thanksgiving weekend.

I remember seeing the What Lies Beneath trailer 1,000x. I remember the trailer more than the movie.

Seconded. Especially the new one with the Adam Lambert song.
Other recent ones come to mind: Did You Hear About the Morgans? The Spy Next Door Planet 51 Translymania Old Dogs (with the exception of Seth Green) The Tooth Fairy Last edited by SkipKassidy; 11-02-09 at 09:57 AM. |

Re: The "If I See That Trailer One More Time..." Thread
I haven't been to the movies in two months so I haven't even seen any trailers since then. And I've forgotten the ones I have seen. Most trailers are pretty forgettable anyway. And most of them get me mad before the movie even starts. They're incredibly stupid and annoying and turn me off of whatever movie they're promoting. Besides, they destroy the mood of anticipation I'd gone into the theater with. So the movie I came to see already has points against it when it starts.
When I was a kid, I used to enjoy seeing trailers, because they told me things I didn't know. It was how I learned about directors and stars and famous plays and books the movies were based on. Today's trailers don't teach kids anything. |

Before I even clicked on the link - A Christmas Carol immediately popped into my head.
On another note - is this the most remade story of all time cinematically? |

Yeah, one more time for shutter island and I'm going to take a shit in the theatre... I wanted to see the movie but I won't now on principle.

I too have gone to the theater only to see the Shutter Island trailer more times than I care to remember.
The only other one that really sticks out in my head theatrically was the xXx trailer back in 2002.

Re: The "If I See That Trailer One More Time..." Thread
I've seen the Shutter Island trailer enough to almost be turned off by the movie, but then again you could blame that on Paramount pushing it back 4 months. Had it maintained its October release, I wouldn't be so burned out by it.

I'm also getting really sick of the Despicable Me trailer. It seems like it goes on forever and it's just a teaser.
