Anyone Find Final Destination Films Hard to Watch?

Ahhh, another Final Destination film is upon us. Looks to provide a fresh batch of gruesome deaths.

Personally, I have a hard time enjoying these films. Not so much for the gruesome death scenes, but it just keeps reminding me about the fragility of life and just how freaking easy it is to get killed. It is a thought that most of us just cast out to maintain our sanity. One day, we will all have our final destination, and it may be a gruesome end. No matter how good your life is, you are guaranteed the tragedy of death.

After watching the first film, I remember slipping on the ice and catching myself. Whoa, I could have fell and cracked my skull. I try not to slip in the shower either lol

I do find them hard to watch, but for a different reason.

Re: Anyone Find Final Destination Films Hard to Watch?

The only death in any of the movies that "bugged" me was when the airbag deploys and the pipe goes through the woman's head. Not sure why exactly, but that one got to me.

Otherwise, no, I find these movies quite enjoyable as they're cheesy, silly, self-aware fun (the only one I'd consider an actual decent movie is the first.)

Re: Anyone Find Final Destination Films Hard to Watch?

the death that I thought was the nastiest and really weired me out, was the nail gun to the face and hands.

the death of the kid by the falling glass in 2 was hysterical for some reason.

I can watch this stuff over and over. Love the pipe/airbag one and also the drive thru/truck one in 3 which was so ridiculously over the top. Got he Canadian Blu-Ray of this so you can see the brain matter on the road nice and clear

One would think death could just make you die without all the theatrics. Like give you an aneurysm or something.

Yeah but where's the fun? Unless that aneurysm causes you to fall off a handglider ... into a meat grinder ... that gets hit by a semi ... carrying explosives.

This is actually the reason I like these films. The supernatural twist aside, we are more likely to die in some random accident than to be hunted down by a serial killer. Plus I dig the mousetrap-like setups, which I find far more creative than anything in the Saw films.

The Rube Goldberg death devices presented in the films are awesome. My favorite by far is this one:

Re: Anyone Find Final Destination Films Hard to Watch?

I love this series. My favorite was the second. Like said previously, they're fun and self aware and the setups are really creative. I'm happy to see that the team in charge of the second outting is back for the fourth. They really seem to have a great sense of how to play with audience expectations and just go all out with it.

Agreed. Also thought that one was pretty funny.

Could be because..

Spoiler:
The look on the face of the kid when he sees the pigeons and he starts to chase after them. Also the amount of splatter in that scene, as a horror fan you just have to laugh

Re: Anyone Find Final Destination Films Hard to Watch?

I LOVE FINAL DESTINATION!!! Seriously. The first time I saw the first movie, I knew it was for me. The ridiculous death scenes are amazing and far more creative than most slashers could ever hope to be. This series is one of my guilty pleasures.

I agree. Love the films. Plan to watch them on DVD tonight or tomorrow, and am going to see the new one with a few friends on Friday.

Re: Anyone Find Final Destination Films Hard to Watch?

I was just discussing this with a co-worker yesterday. For anyone with an anxiety disorder, FD movies are their worst nightmare.

I watched some of the sequel and it was just too much.

Re: Anyone Find Final Destination Films Hard to Watch?

I wouldn't know if they're hard to watch, but I do find it hard to go to the theater to see them. And hard to turn on the TV to the right cable channel when they're on. Just can't bring myself to do it. It's really, really hard.

Just the opposite for me. Seeing the FD movies affirms my anxieties, and makes me feel better about my afflictions.

Re: Anyone Find Final Destination Films Hard to Watch?

Well, I mean, any anxiety you might feel watching these movies is intentional. Most people have it in the back of their minds that planes could crash, a horrendous road accident could occur, a rollercoaster might break. That's the idea.
