Re: Movies that made you cry.

Not many, but a few are a guarantee to get me misty-eyed...

the end of Rocky II ("Yo, Adrian, I did it!")

the end of Robocop ("Nice shootin', son. What's your name?" "Murphy.")

Other films that get the waterworks flowing--

The Green Mile (the last 20-25 minutes is a 5-hanky affair for me)
Saving Private Ryan
Sling Blade (the 'you will be happy' note? Just pass the tissue)
Where the Red Fern Grows (though I cried more over the book as a kid)
Dumbo (where his mom puts her trunk around him while locked in her cage)
Boys on the Side (Jane's singing "You Got It" for the last time)

Re: Movies that made you cry.

I can't say that I've openly wept at any movies. I suppose that makes me a hard-ass. I can well-up, but the tears never manage to fall. Last night my wife cried while we were watching Blindness.

For some reason, I have a real soft spot for old married couples that have been together for a long time. Both Up and The Notebook caused some tears.

Re: Movies that made you cry.

Glenn Ford's death in Superman made me tear up when I saw it a year or so ago. A very touching and poignant moment by a great actor.

Several times during Band of Brothers, since the initial run was during 9/11. I am sure there are others too.

Re: Movies that made you cry.

I think I'm officially the wimpiest guy on this board....

Titanic, Saving Private Ryan, Green Mile, League of Their Own, ET, The Natural, Marley and Me, Schindlers List, About Schmidt, Forrest Gump, Ghost, LOTR TROFK, and probably a lot more I can't think of.

And the ending to Six Feet Under destroyed me.

Re: Movies that made you cry.

Me Before Tou. Bawled my eyes out. Been a rough year, especially for my dad health-wise, so maybe hit me harder than it would others. Still a very charming unconventional love story.

The Royal Tenenbaums - when Ben Stiller tells Gene Hackman, 'It's been a rough year Dad'

Niagra Falls every damn time.

When Forrest asks if his kid is stupid, is another one.

I almost never cry at movies, but Dancer in the Dark ripped me to shreds.

Re: Movies that made you cry.

The very end of Schindler's List where we see the actual people alongside the actor who portrayed them.

Very end of Midnight Express when Billy escapes.

It's a tv episode. "The Inner Light" episode of Star Trek: TNG. When Picard finds the flute like instrument in the probe and begins playing the song he learned.

Re: Movies that made you cry.

Funny that this thread got bumped. Yesterday, Kevin Smith posted a Facebook Live of him watching
Spoiler:
GotGV2 spoiler ahead
Spoiler:
Yondu's death and funeral
and crying his eyes out. He had already seen it three times in the theater but he felt a need to show how much it still affects him.

This. From the moment where the wife walks past the train station years later and still sees the dog waiting there until the end had me silently blubbering. Watched it a few times since and same reaction every time. My wife was just as bad. Great movie and amazing that its based on a true story. One of the reasons i love dogs so much is that they truly are mans best friend and can demonstrate such loyalty.

Not sure if I ever outright cried, but came close with the endings of The Last Samurai, Atonement and Never Let Go.

Re: Movies that made you cry.

I was 7 and was crying so loud after E.T. that when we came out of the theater so teenager saw me while he was waiting in line to get in and said "holy shit, that kid is crying, I don't think I want to see this now."

Spock dying always chokes me up. I wonder if they will ever go searching for him?

Re: Movies that made you cry.

Same here and maybe the scene where the human mother or guardian dumps or abandons AI or whatever his name in the forest.

Not a hard cry but still sad.

When Luke Skywalker removes Darth Vaders mask in Return of the Jedi.

Luke- You're coming with me. I'll not leave you here, I've got to save you.

Anakin - You already... have, Luke. You were right. You were right about me.
