Just saw this, not sure if its been mentioned

Quote:
The Optimus Prime character from Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen will appear on CBS' The Late Show with David Letterman on Monday. He will be presenting the show's Top Ten list for the night

Yeah Pretenders were in the cartoon but the character design for when she goes all robot on our asses is VERY similar to the TX (but with predator hair) - they could have at least gone for a different shade of blue, but they didn't.

There was nothing wrong with the way they did the female Pretender - I thought it was more like Eve from Species actually. The only other way they could have done a good interpretation of a Pretender would be special effects like this from Total Recall:

(only that it would be a robot inside instead of Arnie!)

That movie trips me out every time. We'll never see a huge fx movie like that I think.

I noticed this as well. I think Bay just liked that Long Haul design so much he threw it it all over the place even if it didn't make sense. I have to watch that part again.

I just saw the movie yesterday and the first thing I thought of was Mortal Kombat 2. Let's throw in as many characters and transformer concepts as possible regardless if the audience knows the character backgrounds, their names, or what type of transformer was on the screen.

1.) Megatron taking orders from someone else doesn't seem right at all IMO.
2.) How is it that Megatron seemed stronger than everyone in TF1, but Prime kicked his ass something fierce throughout this movie.
3.) It's a shame that Mudflap and Skids got so much screen time when you consider the huge amount of classic autobots they could have used instead.
4.) They brought Arcee into the film for what, five seconds of screen time before killing her off? Arcee should have been left out until they could work with the 'Hot Rod era' characters.
5.) When you think about it, Starscream really had nothing to do in this film. I was hoping they would bring in his buddies Skywarp and Thundercracker and have an all out air battle. Starscream should also always be thinking about taking over for Megatron and he knows he needs help to do that.
6.) Jetfire was a mess. They should have tied Starscream into his story instead.
7.) Are we ever going to find out what happened to Barricade?

I think with Barricade, the assumption was Prime destroyed him on the freeway. Perhaps that's why it took him so long to show up for the finale.

Wait, what? Barricade is the police car, right?

You just gave this movie more thought than anyone involved in its production did.

My point exactly! Unless you watch these a few times you have no idea who certain characters are.

Barricade is last seen driving on the freeway with the rest of the Decepticons. (TF1) The original story I read was that there is a deleted scene featuring Prime taking him out, resulting in Prime showing up to the battle a little late, and Barricade not showing up at all.

Quote:
Barricade does not fight in the city, he disappears after the highway chase scene. He did die in the leaked film script, the comic book and novelization, killed shortly after Optimus Prime's motorway battle with Bonecrusher whilst attacking Prime from behind. In Reign of Starscream, it is stated that Ironhide pushed him off the road while Optimus Prime was fighting Bonecrusher, damaging him. Following the battle in Mission City, Starscream found him and was told by him that Frenzy had important informations about the Allspark. Starscream tells Barricade to stay on Earth as a spy, which he does.

Of course, the writers stated:

Quote:
Writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman stated in a recent interview that Barricade's disappearance from the remainder of the first film is a "thread for Movie 2" [8] This explanation runs concurrent with the after-credits scene of Starscream retreating into space, after being defeated by a flight of F-22s.
They should have destroyed Barricade in the beginning of this film instead of Sideways (the Audi R8).

I know there's a lot of love for Star Trek around here (I liked it too, sort of), but the script was dreadful. It was the cast and director that made it successful, not the writing.

The writing on Star Trek was significantly better than either Transformers.

It would've been perfect if they had Spocks parents eat magic brownies

Re: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (Bay, 2009) — The Reviews Thread

I saw it this weekend. It was definitely the usual Michael Bay lowbrow humor with 'splosions flick, but what can I say, I enjoyed it.

As I sit here, I could probably list 20 things to pick apart (starting with that "destiny" nonsense), but ultimately, it didn't matter.

Between the giant robots and the eye candy, I got my 6 bucks worth.

Writing looked pretty good to me. No where near dreadful.

Re: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (Bay, 2009) — The Reviews Thread

Its been a pretty shitty summer so far. There have been some ok smaller films. But the big event films have all sucked. Wolverine, Angels & Demons and Land of the Lost were terrible. Star Trek was fun, but I've already forgotten everything about it. And Transformers 2 is officially the worst "popcorn movie" ever (and I like popcorn movies, just not the bad ones). Terminator: Salvation was my favorite movie so far this summer. But thats only because it was the least shitty one.

Well, I just saw the new trailer for District 9. Holy shit! It looks like its going to be the best movie of the summer by far. I can't wait for it. I need to wash the taste of all these awful movies out of my mouth.

It just occured to me that none of the vehicles that form Devastator have wrecking balls. Damn, the movie just gets lamer and lamer the more you think about it.

Are you sure? There was a Yellow Construction Decepticon with a wrecking ball type weapon that swung at Sam while they were running in the little village.

I don't remember that guy. But if you look at the toys, none has a wrecking ball.

I remember him. Swinging the wrecking ball at Sam and Mikaela was all he did before possibly merging into Devastator. There were so many Constructicons in that final battle that I'm at a loss as to who merged and who stayed to fight elsewhere.

I really don't get the Deceptacons' idea of "capturing" someone. They send a Pretender after Sam but she seems more hell bent on killing him than taking him to Megatron. Megatron wants the Doctor to inspect Sam but he tosses him around like a ragdoll first with no consideration as to what would happen if he accidentally kills him. Once the Doctor says they need to remove Sam's brain, every Decepticon from that moment onward is trying their damndest to obliterate him with no consideration to the potential irreperable damage to his brain.

Why not capture and then decapitate him rather than try to blow him up into tiny little chunks or squish him into goo?

Did he have two wrecking balls?

The more I think about it, they already had a construction site filled with robots. Why wouldn't they just have those robots merge for Devastator? Why have a bunch of other random construction robots driving around as well? It makes things unnecessarily complicated.

God this movie is dumb on so many levels.
