Surrogates - Bruce Willis

Spoiler:
FBI agents (Bruce Willis and Radha Mitchell) investigate the mysterious murder of a college student linked to the man who helped create a high-tech surrogate phenomenon that allows people to purchase unflawed robotic versions of themselves –- fit, good looking remotely controlled machines that ultimately assume their life roles -– enabling people to experience life vicariously from the comfort and safety of their own homes. The murder spawns a quest for answers: In a world of masks, who’s real and who can you trust?

Wasn't this a graphic novel?

Re: Surrogates - Bruce Willis

They filmed some scenes of this right across the street from where I work, so it'll be fun to see that on camera.

This actually looks kind of cool, kind of like I, Robot.

Mostow doesn't disappoint with action, but Bruce Willis as the "surrogate" looks kind of silly.

It's the wig. They could've gotten a better wig.

Looks pretty interesting. I may see this in theaters if the reviews turn out positive.

It was an independant comic book mini-series, later collected into a trade paperback. It was OK, nothing to memorable, much like the trailer. And the last 5+ years of Bruce's career.

Re: Surrogates - Bruce Willis

I was wondering what Jonathan Mostow was up to... this trailer looked pretty weak, but I think Mostow is capable of delivering fun action thrillers, so I'll check it out. (Breakdown kicks ass!)

Re: Surrogates - Bruce Willis

Higher-concept sci-fi action is always hard to tackle.

This looks good. Acutally, it looks pretty good. It excites me a little more because it kind of came out of nowhere for me. I'm spoiled by having NoirFan posting info before or during early production. I didn't know what Willis or Mostow was up to. From the trailer, it looks like they had a hefty budget, too.

Anyways, it looks good. I'll probably check it out in theaters.

Good or not, this was one of those trailers that gives everything away. And if you've read enough books and seen enough movies, you can easily see where it's going every step of the way.

I guess people don't like being surprised any more...

Hey, not that this idea hasn't been done before... But isn't this how the Avatars are going to work? You know, that movie coming out this Christmas.

Ha, that's one of the reasons I'm interested. I loved T3 and enjoyed Breakdown, so I know he can handle action and suspense.

The screenplay has been written by John Brancato and Michael Ferris. Abandon all hope...

Saw the trailer before Terminator.

Looks absolutely horrendous.

The Matrix meets The Stepford Wives meets I, Robot ... how does that sound like a good idea?

It looks very silly. And the RObots look very cheesy. Also it's PG-13 and 104 minutes so I will pass.

Geez, what is it with you and running times and ratings?

So if it isn't 175 minutes with an R Rating, it's gotta suck?

So are you waiting for a 3 hour R-Rated Star Trek cut to hit DVD?

More isn't always better and not every action movie needs a Hard R rating.

No it's already over 2 hours and is the most enjoyable film this summer.
Not because its over 2 hours but because it tells its story the best. I have found that hollywood films lasting over 2 hours tell there stories better than ones under 2 hours.

Re: Surrogates - Bruce Willis

I thought this looked like the worst serious movie this year when I saw the trailer in front of T4. The movie was redeemed shortly after when the trailer for Gamer played.
