Photo is definitely Deadpool in nature. I think Reynolds might be doing this entirely through motion capture, as he is a bit bulkier than that photo portrays.

Newcomer Brianna Hildebrand Joins Deadpool as Negasonic Teenage Warhead

SPENCER PERRY MAR 30, 2015

The Hollywood Reporter brings word that the cast of Deadpool has added another mutant to the cards with newcomer actress Brianna Hildebrand as Ellie Phimister, AKA Negasonic Teenage Warhead. Created by Grant Morrison and Frank Quietly, and named after a song by the band Monster Magnet, Negasonic Teenage Warhead was a protege of Emma Frost who is a telepath with vast precognitive abilities.

Hildebrand joins a cast that includes Ryan Reynolds in the title role along with Ed Skrein, TJ Miller as Weasel, Gina Carano as Angel Dust, and Morena Baccarin as Copycat. The film will also feature the mutant Colossus, though Daniel Cudmore has confirmed he will not appear as the character.

Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, Deadpool tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

Tim Miller is set to direct the movie from a script by Zombieland writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Deadpool is currently scheduled for a release on February 12, 2016.

JoBlo Exclusive stating it will be PG-13: http://www.joblo.com/movie-news/excl...0KYdfaYfFAe.99

It may be an April Fool's joke... but they already tried pulling one with "Ryan Gosling casts as new John McClane"

Looks like no joke, as Reynolds is just tweeted a comment about it.

PG-13 isn't surprising at all. It is still an X-Men movie at its core, and the audience for X-Men includes kids. The Wolverine was also PG-13, and it got an unrated cut on the home media release. The same will likely happen with Deadpool.

PG-13 has been expected for awhile now. It's hardly a surprise.

Yeah no surprise here.

I'm perfectly fine with PG13 anyway. I'm currently going through every Deadpool appearance and so far after two mini-series, 30 issues of Vol 1, and like 25 more appearances in other books I've yet to see anything that requires an R rating.

Yeah, it's just a case of faulty memories/nostalgia. People do that with Wolverine too. They think Wolverine was always some R-rated character, but going back and actually looking at his history and it's pretty tame. Definitely nothing more than PG-13. He's full of talk, "I'm the best at what I do and what I do isn't very nice," but it's all bark and no bite. He talks tough, but the actual violence depicted in the comics is PG-13.

Really the only time DC and Marvel do R-rated stuff is in their imprint lines like Vertigo and Marvel MAX. The mainstream comics never do R-rated stuff.

Re: Deadpool - X-Men spinoff (2016, D: Tim Miller) S: Ryan Reynolds

I'm a little ignorant about who Deadpool is. I read X-Men in the late 80s/early 90s and don't remember him at all. When did he first appear? I've seen enough overweight fans dressed as his character at comic cons, which has totally ruined any curiosity about seeing this. Plus, Ryan Reynolds is officially on my Please Die Soon list, especially after the crappy Green Lantern movie. I wish Hollywood would institute a one-comic-book-franchise per actor rule to prevent things like that.

Deadpool first appeared in New Mutants #98, right before the relaunch of X-Force and X-Men in 1991.

Yep. Deadpool was created by Rob Liefeld, which says it all...

Deadpool is one of the few "EXXXTEME 90s" characters that is still in use today for whatever reason.

The Deadpool of today barely resembles the character as created. Liefeld created him as a straight up rip-off of Deathstroke. He looked kind of cool and was vaguely tied to the weapon X program (along with a dozen other crappy villains from that era), but was pretty negligible in the grand scheme of the Marvel universe. It wasn't until Joe Kelly turned him into a comedic character in the late 90's that he developed the following that he has today.

And Liefeld was really only responsible for the look and powers. All the writing was done by Fabian Nicieza. He was the one who gave DP the real name Wade Wilson as a joke (Deathstroke is Slade Wilson for those that don't know) after he realized what Liefeld had done.

I've read a decent amount of Deadpool trades over the last year on my Kindle and really getting in to the character for the first time outside of seeing some one off appearances in random X-Men/X-Force comics. I think he's awesome and pretty hilarious, and Reynolds' wise ass attitude actually suits him incredibly well.

Reynolds was a perfect Wade Wilson in Origins. And then they made Wilson into "Deadpool" w/ Scott Adkins as him.

The sexual tension between those two was palpable.

Not a nitpick or anything, but Deadpool's voice sounds kind of high pitched there compared to Reynolds normal speaking voice. Like more whiney

I came to this thread expecting to find some Affleck level of hate for the Ryan Reynolds casting. Looks like I'm in the minority when it comes to not liking him.
