I'll wait until I see it before passing judgement.

I think this film is going to be a big hit in the "Disturbing films that made you feel dirty and ashamed after watching... " thread.

And can we please retire the expression 'torture porn'. It's so stupid it invalidates everything say after it

Itīs highly unlikely that US will see a UNCUT version in the theater.

Zentropa has made a statement they will cut various versions to fit each part of the world in order to avoid a scandal or total exclusion. The US for one is too sensitive against explicit scenes.

Better wait for the UNCUT version on DVD or Blu-ray.

IFC has purchased Antichrist and they say they will release same cut as in Cannes:

Not quite.

IFC has bought both the UNRATED (The Protestant version) and the RATED version (The Catholic version). So know one knows which version will be the theatrical version.

Italy has bought "The Protestant version" Whereas Germany has bought "The Catholic version"

Difference between the two versions - according to Zentropa - is one or two minutes.

Re: Lars Von Trier's Antichrist

So this movie has nothing to do with antichrist from the bible.
Why is called Antichrist?

met⋅a⋅phor  [met-uh-fawr, -fer] –noun
1. a figure of speech in which a term or phrase is applied to something to which it is not literally applicable in order to suggest a resemblance

Agreed. I think all of us in there will be talking about the film in there once we see it.

Trailer was alright, but I'll reserve my thoughts until after I see the film.

Re: Lars Von Trier's Antichrist

This is why I hate knowing about movies way before they are made available for us to see.

What on earth gives you this assumption? Plenty of films have been released to theaters without cuts in America. Usually they just go out unrated. Y tu mama tambien and Irreversable come to mind.

Or mislead the public and get their ass in the theater.
You could have said that.

I hear ya, I went to see Cruising thinking it was about ships and instead got a lesson in colored hankies.
