Just showing off here. Saw Solaris at its American premiere in 1972. It was at the Chicago Film Festival. I had no idea what it was, but it was billed as the Russian 2001. It wasn't and most in the audience were confused. The director did a Q&A after the movie, but I don't remember anything that was said.

I'm afraid anyone who watches a Tarkovsky film expecting something along the lines of Night Watch will be, uh... Sorely disappointed.
