I felt the same way. Maybe I should try it again and see if I like it any better than I did the first time I saw it.

I think someone said in another thread that that was abandoned.

Isn't there some tie-in between Superman/Batman and Infinite Crisis? I know it would never happen, but it's interesting to think about one of those mega-events in animated form.

At the end of the story, Luthor mentions a Crisis. That was about it.

Sheese, I don't think you could cover any of the Crisis stories in a 74-80 minute feature. It would have to be at least 2+ hours and cut out a lot of storylines.

Not that I'd really like to see any Crisis attempted, I do wish that with some of these titles they would expand beyond the 75-90 minute area. Some stories at 2 or a little more hours would be fine, and I'd like to see certain ones maybe even broken up into parts, assuming they tackle storylines that would be appropriate for such a length.

Re: DC Animated - Superman/Batman: Public Enemies

I think the only Crisis storyline that could be reasonably condensed to 2+ hours would be Identity Crisis. With a few minor trims I think it would translate well to an animated feature.

I though The Judas Contract was still being considered but has been pushed back by other projects that Timm is more interested in doing.

I think the reason was Warner Bros was worried Teen Titans didn't have a high enough profile.

http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/content.php?contentid=70987

Bruce Timm presents 2 bonus cartoons

I thought the TT cartoon was supposed to be very popular while it lasted. Certainly the property should have more name recognition post that cartoon series, than prior to it.

In any case I think they did the right thing in shelving plans for Judas Contract.
It isn't that the story isn't good- it was great. But there are problems with adapting something that pays off a long serial storyline. A one-off film lacks context.
It's basically the X3 syndrome- things need to be established properly before you 'have the right' to tell the story that pays it all off.
You just don't get the proper bang out of the twists and revelations otherwise.

If I were DC, I would roll the dice big on this one, and plan out a 3 film story arc and commit to it releasing one a year- with the first film introducing Terra and getting her inducted in the team (and also introducing Terminator as at least one of the villains), The second film then could be more epic in scope, possibly using something like the Blackfire/Starfire storyline. Terra at that point would be taken for granted as part of the team. Then for the third film you could bring them back down to earth and play out the Judas Contract.

Unless the only goal is to sell this to fanboys already familiar with the storyline. In that case it wouldn't matter. Take the time to do it right though, and they'd grow new fans with it

Plot sounds interesting, if not action-packed. Still, looking forward to it.

Does "Reuniting the Superman/Batman Animated Series Casts with Andrea Romano" mean we're getting Daly and Conroy in this?

But then shouldn't it say "Reuniting the Superman/The Batman Animated Series Casts with Andrea Romano" instead?

Nice. Next live action film needs to take some notes from the TAS universe (and comics). Luthor can be a big bada$$ without being some landgrabbing ninny.

Extra chiseled and young Superman.

Yeah I'm not digging the character design at all. But having Tim Daly back as supes almost makes up for it. Haven't had a decent voiced Superman since his departure IMO.

Re: DC Animated - Superman/Batman: Public Enemies

I hope this is on the level of the Wonder Woman movie, which quite frankly blew me away when I rented it. I thought it would be just another animated movie primarily aimed at kids. It was most likely the most violent cartoon I have seen next to Heavy Metal and it was very much the PG-13 label.
I hope this movie has as much edge to it as well.

Re: DC Animated - Superman/Batman: Public Enemies

I didn't know who all was associated with this so I hopped on over to IMDB. The fact that they have Daly as Superman, Conroy as Batman, and Clancy Brown back as Lex Luthor is enough for me to blind buy.

Re: DC Animated - Superman/Batman: Public Enemies

I just got the dvd of Superman/Batman: Public Lovers. A very fair film - nowhere close as good as Green Lantern or the masterpiece Wonder Woman. It's basically a two episode arc from the justice league cartoon - it's only an hour long and the writing and animation seemed lazy. Nothing really bad, but it seemed like DC did this quickly. DC should only have their female director of GL and wonder woman do DC animated films.

The few awesome scenes in the movie are just the fight scene between Superman and Captain Marvel (come on DC, do a kingdom come animated film!) and when Lex Luthor suits up in his green power suit.

I liked how Power Girl was in the film, but she looked and acted like a dimwit - certainly not how she acted in old school Justice Society comics. Big huge tits though!

And i liked how they try and make batman and superman chum it up together as if they were in a paul rudd bromance. It just came off as homeoerotic especially since their just walking around with their tight superhero outfits. Entertaining stuff!

There is nothing really pg 13 about this film. There are tits and a curse word, but if this was an animated film from the 1980s, this film would be rated G or PG.
