Re: Suicide Squad (WB/DC) - News, Rumors, Cast, etc.
I generally enjoy the animated DC movies, but I'm not sure any of them have been great.
Also, as a (former?) huge DC fan, I just want to say that the last couple years of movies (and rumors of future movies) and comics haven't instilled confidence in me that ANY of them know what they're doing, whether it's the film division or comics.

Suicide Squad is not comparable to Sinister Six at all. Suicide Squad has had a few ongoing comics that were well received. Sinister Six has never held its own title. Suicide Squad has more in common with Guardians of the Galaxy in that both are almost completely unknown to anyone who does not read comics.

I was just thinking that you said Suicide Squad is uninteresting because they cannot hold their own movie like the Sinister Six. (I mean how else can a movie be deemed uninteresting when you don't even have one single ounce of information about it yet.) I was just pointing out that they can hold their own movie because they have had their own comic series.

ehhhh. I dunno.
Having a comic based on them doesn't hold sand to whether they could hold their own movie. It does make them an "easy" target to get noticed from some WB guy though cuz the comic is there. So they stand out as a property to notice on a list.

I thought it was one of the worst things I've watched in recent memory. Definitely wouldn't want any sort of live-action movie resembling it.

Done right, this could be awesome. It fits right in with DC "Real World" filming.

My other scoop is that I found out who is going to be the seven members of the upcoming Suicide Squad. Here they are below.
BLOCKBUSTER -- the strongman.
MULTIPLEX -- the human replicator.
JACULI -- the speedster.
MINDBOGGLER -- the female telepath.
HARKNESS -- special weapons.
VIXEN -- female with animal abilities.
DEADSHOT The leader of the Suicide Squad and our main hero.
Besides DEADSHOT, the other two members most featured and our co-leads are HARKNESS and VIXEN. I don't have time to go into more detail on each of them because I bag em and toe tag em. I'm sure my other colleagues will go into more detail.

And why not call Harkness by his codename, Captain Boomerang?

That's not a valid excuse. And just you watch on Arrow they'll likely mention his name is Digger Harkness. Heck, the codename Deadshot has already been used on Arrow. May as well call the team leader Floyd.

Looks like Justice League is being split into 2 parts:
Deadline.com
Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara announced planes for a two-part Justice League movie along with six other films.
The Justice League will be directed by Zack Snyder and broken into two parts with the first being released in 2017 and the second 2019.
The rest of the films are as follows:
Staring in 2016 will be The Suicide Squad. This is in discussion with 4 A-list stars according to the announcement.
In 2017 will be Justice League pt 1 and Wonder Woman.
2018 will bring us The Flash and Aquaman.
2019 gets Shazam (with Duane Johnson) and Justice League pt 2
And finally 2020 gets Cyborg and Green Lantern.

WTF? broken into two parts. A two year gap for...the 2nd half? That can't be right. A misquote? They must have typed it wrong based off what that schedule supposedly is.

What do you think they will really name this movie? There is no way they would get merchandise in big stores with SS name on it.

Those are from comic shops/online nerd stores, pop culture places like Hot Topic. Big stores= Walmart, Target.
Wacky mothers are going to flip when they see and here about SS, being aimed at kids.

Posted this in the Future DC Cinematic Universe thread but more appropriate here:

Sources also say he [Ryan Gosling] is being courted to star in Suicide Squad, David Ayer's take on the DC Comics supervillain team at Warner Bros.
...
Ayer's Suicide Squad is still in early development and the script is being worked on. But that is not stopping the filmmaker and the studio from making overtures for what is to be an A-list ensemble piece filled with colorful anti-heroes. Sources say that Will Smith, Margot Robbie and Tom Hardy also are fielding offers. Warners had no comment.

Those links don't show the packaging, but the item description definitely mentions Suicide Squad.

Margo Robbie would be a good Harley Quinn.

That worked back in 1992 after Batman Returns, but parents are no longer in control. They will buy their children what they want, no matter how hyper-PG-13 the content is. After all, today's parents are the kids who grew up watching Batman Returns.

Per Deadline:
http://deadline.com/2014/10/will-smi...r-bros-853364/
Warner Bros, which this week identified the DC Comics property Suicide Squad as one of its priority projects that will be released in 2016, is apparently moving aggressively on the film that will be directed by David Ayer as his follow to the Brad Pitt-starrer Fury. I’m hearing that both Will Smith and Tom Hardy are circling the film and are close to signing on.
