Re: Stallone says Rambo will return soon

From Arrow in the Head:

WARNING: There's potentially a very big RAMBO 5 spoiler in this article.

In a pretty neat article over at Canadian site Macleans, Sly Stallone opens up in a big way about his career, his past feuds (with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Richard Gere!) and what his future holds. I'd love to just go over each question with a fine-tooth comb, but let's just focus on one aspect: the next RAMBO.

Is there a future for the character? Last year, we got an update from screenwriter Sean Hood, who was approached by Stallone and Millennium Entertainment to script a new adventure for the venerable action hero. Now Sly has opened up about it - just a little.

"I’m dying to do another Rambo. He’s in Arizona on the border. It will involve him going into Mexico. I don’t think Rambo likes Mexicans."

Stallone is then asked if he'll kill Rambo off in this new installment, and he responds with a simple "Yes."

The entire chat with Sly is interesting (did you know he turned down Quentin Tarantino twice?), so check out the article right HERE. Now the wait for Rambo's run for the border begins...

****************************************************

:waiting for Solid Snake to weep:

The linked article is also a good read, as anyone who's read an interview with Stallone should know.

Re: Stallone says Rambo will return soon

Rambo II = Vietnam
Rambo III = Afghanistan
Rambo IV = Burma

Rambo V = Mexico??

That's got to be a joke. Please tell me its a joke. Maybe Rambo VI will be Canada...

Re: Stallone says Rambo will return soon

You mean after he's dead from this next one? Zombie Rambo in Canada. I'd see that. Makes sense to do it in Mexico, the country that has more gruesome violence going on than in the Middle East. As a Mexican, I say to Rambo - godspeed. Go cap a cartel or two.

Plot for Rambo V:

Spoiler:
Rambo ends up in Mexico. Looking for directions at this small restaurant he sees this stranger in a white tuxedo from a distance. Stranger tells waiter to tell Rambo he can order anything on the house and Rambo orders a drink and a taco which is all they had on the menu. Rambo passes out by the food and wakes up in a prison, naked; with some evil cartels playing guitars and screaming real loud.

Just let the franchise go out with dignity. Rambo/John Rambo was the perfect ending to the series. No need for another one.

It's just Rambo. I loved the last one but I won't lose sleep if he makes another one or two even if they stink.

Uh oh... has Snake heard about this "Rambo doesn't like Mexicans" development?

That one ran on Spike or something last week and it was listed in the guide as Rambo IV: John Rambo. I thought that was kind of redundant.

Ha ha. Unless I'm mistaken, Snake lives in America, and is an American.

I don't see too big a problem with a Mexico plot. That place is a shit-hole warzone right now, so it fits.

Re: Stallone says Rambo will return soon

The idea works perfectly for Rambo V because Mexican cartels are ruthless fucks. The only thing is that if Rambo V want to capture that, it has to be a R rating or more.

I personally think that Rambo V should end with a big bloody bang.

Sounds perfect, hoping for a more restrained, but still brutal at times film.

....hrmmmmm.....Mexico seems like a major stepdown from Burma. It should end w/ Rambo IV. Let it go. He had his peace finally. He's home.

American by birth yes....I dunno. I see stereotypes being used w/ a lot of queso involved. The Expendables had that as well. If directed by Sly....I dunno.

Why would he do that? Tarantino would make a far better Rambo film than Stallone ever could.

I wasn't talking about the name of the movie when I said "it's just Rambo." I meant it as in who cares how many they make? It's just Rambo.
I'd be more concerned if he was doing another Rocky movie. As for Rambo, it's an action series (at least in my eyes) so I'm not too concerned how many he makes. And the last one was pretty good so he should go for it.

Umm, guys, I think maybe Stallone was pulling the interviewers leg with that comment about another Rambo...it sounds VERY MUCH like sarcasm from Sly.
