Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981) Friday the 13th Part III (1982) Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (1984) Jason Lives: Friday the 13th Part VI (1986) Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood (1988) These sequels were much better than this remake.... |

![]() Silly me, I forgot how sacred and fantastic the Friday the 13th sequels are. The acting, dialogue, and action were 10x better than what's offered in the 80s sequels. Last edited by Mr. Cinema; 02-13-09 at 03:29 PM. |

Re: Friday the 13th (2009) The Reviews Thread
Wasn't as good as my personal favorite Friday the 13th Part IV, but it was entertaining enough. The blonde asshole guy got funnier as the movie went on. I also found myself, for the first time, not being annoyed by Aaron Yoo in a movie. The last girl to get naked was the best. Jason was pretty awesome. The only thing I didn't really like about the movie was their handling of Jason's mother. I think they felt they needed to go a different direction with her look, but I think that was the one place they should have stayed true to the original. I'd have even liked them to get Betsy Palmer.

i think this is a great positive review. short, simple and the way they should all be...
Friday the 13th makes no secret about its purpose, and there's no use pretending it should be anything else. Rob Vaux, Mania.com

Re: Friday the 13th (2009) The Reviews Thread
This guy must have been adding this to his reviews of Friday films for quite some time. Obviously he hasn't seen all of the films but just read the back of dvd for the first few films. As much as anyone may like or dislike the film, how can they say that this installment isn't faithful to the original. Is taking Jason to space, Manhattan, or spirit jumping faithful to the series?

Ebert gave it 2 stars. Given his history with the franchise, that's like a 4 star rating.

Re: Friday the 13th (2009) The Reviews Thread
I thought this was pretty damn fun... not perfect by any stretch but good. Jared Padalecki was decent (and certainly gets bragging rights on the Supernatural set for being in the better horror remake) and the gratuitous boobs were great... I was expecting more gore however.
I thought Nispel's take on Texas Chainsaw was intense and gory to the point of being sadistic (I didn't really enjoy it) so I was both glad that this movie wasn't as 'mean spirited' (yeah, I know, kind of stupid to call a slasher flick 'not mean spirited' but I felt it wasn't as sadistic/sick as TCM) but somehow was expecting more gore to really sell the kills... Some of them are fantastic (the dock!) but others are kind of blah. Overall, it's a fun slasher flick and has some good Jason moments but I was expecting a bit more...but I wouldn't say I'm disappointed. Easily one of the better Friday flicks and I'd be up for another one.... However, the ending Spoiler:

To each their own...I thought outside of the 'eye' most of MBV's kills kind of sucked and the middle was boring as shit.

Re: Friday the 13th (2009) The Reviews Thread
I thought Friday the 13th remake was WAY more entertaining than My Bloody Valentine 3-D. The kills in this were more creative and it's just a more fun atmosphere. Plus, Jason is a better movie killer.

Re: Friday the 13th (2009) The Reviews Thread
No, I doubt that maybe on here but not everywhere.... MBV had better kills & gore.... It was a very fun film to see in theaters, I'm sure most agree with that.... More entertaining could be debated & I understand that.... The middle of MBV had a little too much drama but the love triangle was in the original.... When you compare remakes to the originals, MBV was just what I expected it to be besides the twist.... F13 was a little bit of a let down to me.... Jason is now very quick & smart? I don't think so.... Plus a few other things that really bothered me....
