debateable on some of them..but I do watch so few westerns. It's a genre that grows slowly for me...god, I love Leone.

No Leone in the top 10? Baffling. Also, Dances With Wolves should be number one on the list of worst westerns.

Hrm....Once Upon a Time In The West should be higher too. Probably the best example of a western being a literal art form.

Re: Wild West Magazine's 100 greatest Westerns
Two, no three complaints leap out at me.
No 'Wyatt Earp'? Please... This is a glaring error that is really unforgivable. The fact that a complete failure of a movie like 'The Missing' makes it on a list with no 'Wyatt Earp' is a joke. Pathetic.
No 'Lawman'? A landmark film that is considered by many the turning point from myth/metaphor westerns into the realist western. Tour de force by Lancaster. This is the movie that would inspire and lead to films like 'Unforgiven', and 'Wyatt Earp', and 'Open Range'.
'Tombstone' at #9?
'TOMBSTONE'!?!?!
Over 'The Wild Bunch'?
Over 'One Eyed Jacks'?
Over 'Once Upon A Time In the West'?

Any Top 100 Westerns list not including William S. Hart's Tumbleweeds is not to be trusted.
EDIT
It also has the mediocre remake of 3:10 to Yuma (clear up at #21!!!) with the original classic version nowhere in sight. Oof!

I would have liked to see Open Range, The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, and Jeremiah Johnson higher on the list.
Last of the Mohicans? Blood Simple? What the hell?!
But any "Greatest Westerns" list that includes The Missing, Posse, and Maverick doesn't have a lot of credibility in the first place.

Re: Wild West Magazine's 100 greatest Westerns
I've never seen it to be honest...so I can't really say much about it. Though based on it's history of being popular...it's just not as heralded as...Unforgiven or Once Upon a Time in The West (a film that more people need to know about cuz it's really not mainstream with the general public).
