Gleefully if pointlessly violent, the facetiously titled "Brooklyn's Finest" ensnares a first-rate cast in a dramatic dragnet for a fugitive moral lesson about street-weary policemen -- whose fates may leave auds not just befuddled, but actively ticked off. The performances are uniformly good, but "Training Day" helmer Antoine Fuqua seems to lack the maturity as a filmmaker to match his casting or his budget.

Yeah Snipes was a good Actor who choose to become an Action star. He didn't mix things up enough after going the action route, thus he started to fade along with van damme and seagal. If it wasn't for Blade he would have went the DTV route sooner than he did.

Not holding out much hope for this one. Antoine Fuqua's films are pretty much guaranteed stinkers.

Just make the title Gere / Snipes / Hawke / Cheadle. It's not like we'd confuse their names.

Based on the previews it looks as though Jake decided LA wasn't for him, relocated to Brooklyn, and has since been applying what he learned from Alonzo on that fateful day.

Exactly what I was thinking.
I do want to see this film, I just hope it won't turn out to be this year's Pride and Glory or this year's We Own the Night... hopefully better then those flicks.

I just saw the film, and it was totally entertaining and exciting, and great performances from everyone - especially Wesley Snipes. Richard Gere was surpringly good as well. Not a good or bad film, just a fair film, but very entertaining...Antoine Fuqua is a very good director...
This ain't no Training Day though - which is a masterpiece.

Yeah I enjoyed it, much better than I was expecting... It really made me want a Wire movie even more.

I wouldn't go that far, but it reminds me of what Seven would've been if Fincher hadn't insisted on sticking to the original ending instead of going for a generic chase & shoot-out like the studio wanted. I don't know if Training Day's ending was changed at all, but it's such a cop-out that it destroys the film.

Ugh, that was hard to sit through. Most depressing movie ever? There was nothing likeable about any of the characters. Hard to get into a movie where you hate everyone on the screen.
