Ridley Scott shouldn't be messing with this crap. Battleship is what he needs to tackle! Then we could get Michael Bay to make FireBall Island.

In that case, I nominate myself for the role of Pennybags.

Who's Up for Ridley Scott's "Monopoly"?
Posted by Scott Weinberg on Tuesday, Jun. 19, 2007, 04:27 AM

Scott Weinberg writes: "Not too long ago we heard that Hasbro wanted to turn a bunch of their properties into movies. Now they seem to have ensnared Sir Ridley Scott into their plan.

According to News.com.au (who source their story from The London Times), Ridley Scott has indeed been approached to direct the comedic thriller known as "Monopoly." Hasbro's agency (William Morris) promises to overload the movie with high-profile movie stars. Apparently they've already offered roles to Scarlett Johansson and Kirsten Dunst.

Here's my favorite part: "Hasbro, which claims that Monopoly has been played by 750 million people since the 1930s, wants the film to feature "sexy young people" in an attempt to attract teenagers to board games." Right, because the movie will be SO GOOD that it'll inspire people to run home and play Monopoly. Ha.

Regarding Ridley Scott's involvement, I'll believe it when I see it. On the screen, I mean.

I thought we had already known that Scott was directing the Monopoly movie. I feel as though this news broke months ago...

What kind of plot could possibly attract Scott as a director, especially comparing it to Blade Runner?

I'm expecting the movie to contain a gun battle over whether or not Free Parking should have some monetary bonus attached.

It's gonna be like Blade Runner. Great, so it'll suck for ten years until they put out a better cut, and it'll take 15 more to hammer out the perfect version. The narration's going to be the worst:

"As I strolled along the board I bought up everything I could afford. Soon I'd amassed an empire, a hotel on every block and a crop of new houses. I had this cit in the palm of my hands. Meanwhile my rival the baseball glove kept landing on my property and having to pay me. I couldn't help but notice he wasn't very sporting about the rules. I guess that's what happens when you leave it up to Chance.

The suspense is already gone. Everyone knows that after the first 15 minutes
Spoiler:
no one will ever pay 10% of their assets but opt for the flat $200 income tax.

The plot revolves around Mr. Shoe getting out of jail free...or does he?
