Eh, depends on what you're showing. Kane is even a hard sell to many adults. I've had a lot of success with the '67 R&J, the '63 Lord of the Flies, and Grapes of Wrath ('40). And if I could justify showing Rebel in an English class, I can imagine many of my students loving it.

I still think he was eh, not bad. He was good but..heavily overrated. In the time frame he was popular there were many more talented actors.

Hard to believe that "Setember, 30 1955" was exactly 50 years ago...today!

Don't feel too bad. This thread made me realize I've only seen stills of Rebel and that's the extent of my exposure to James Dean.

Re: 53 years ago today..............

REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE and EAST OF EDEN used to play as a double feature at revival theaters quite often back in the 1970s. I saw them a number of times on the big screen. Plus, they played on regular broadcast TV a lot.

I first saw REBEL as a freshman in college when it played at Columbia University and Nicholas Ray was there to talk about it afterwards. That was quite an experience.

That's pretty amazing.
