I remember that I was hoping it would be and after I saw it I was spreading the word too. Only time I heard people talk about this movie was when it came to video. Then it became popular just like SCARFACE and CARLITO'S WAY.

Wow, that trailer blows away Me & You, Us, Forever... It actually may unseat Time Changer as the most unintentionally funny 'real' trailer.

Well... first off, grammar is our friend.

Secondly, I don't understand what you're asking....

I think the original poster was simply applying a commonly used idiom to describe the "retardification" of the United States, of which "Sara"h is the new corporate logo.

Kinda like how circular mouse ears represent "Disney," or the Golden Arches scream "McDonalds." Well Palin is now the poster child for "Backward Hayseeds are Destroying Our Once Great Nation, ltd." - a division of the "Noah's Ark Really Happened" group, a wholly owned subsidiary of "God Did It, PLLC."

I could be wrong about his intent, though. He'd have to confirm that himself. Is that what you were asking?

-Doc

EDIT: I am neither "gay" nor "Hollywood." And while I don't HATE Sarah, I hate what she represents. Plus, she's a (dinosaur) holocaust denier, and I can't abide that

The irony is that a film that looks that bad, produced in America, makes me a Sad American.

Seriously, are we sure this isn't a joke? It plays like it should be a movie-within-a-movie in Team America: World Police.

But isn't just as retarted to back someone just because he's black with liberal views? And there are more conservatives in America than liberals. So guess who's gonna win come November.

You're kind of narrowing the truth factor by limiting it to this thread.

If you are supporting him simply because he is black? Yes, that is just as retarded. If you are supporting him because his "liberal" views are the same views you share and you feel that these views and policies are what is needed to right the ship, then no - that is not retarded.

I said this in another thread recently, and it still amazes me that "liberal" has become a dirty word. You know what, for the sake of avoiding carpal tunnel (and more than just a little narcisism), I'm just going to be a goon and quote myself.

EDIT: HA! Just noticed that the quote I'm pulling was actually a response to you from the SNL thread! We've got to stop meeting like this, Lopez!

Jesus of Nazareth....

I also note with some disappointment that you never responded.

The Jesus thing especially kills me. The dude was killed for being as progressive as he was. So many conservatives claim to speak for him and yet look at the platforms of the two parties.

Of the two, which one wants to care for the poor, the sick, the "sinners"... which one proposes conflict resolution through diplomacy?

Now ask yourself which one is about greed, xenophobia, condemnation and judgement, class systems and maintaining the status quo?

I keep looking for a copy of the "conservative bible." You know, the one where Jesus told the beggers to pull themselves up by their bootstraps; the one where he called the apostles hippes and told them to get jobs; the one in which he beaned the adulteress is the head with a chunk of granite without a moment's hesitation for destroying "family values;' The one where he said, "It is no more or less difficult to get into heaven for a rich man... in fact it helps... a lot... get rich... and eliminate the death tax!"

If you could help me out with regards to a location at which I could purchase this, I'd appreciate it. It sounds like a hoot!

Conservatives must be the most insecure people on the face of the planet.

Why does homosexuality threaten the "traditional American family"? It's not like we're going to go, "Man... I'm attracted to women, and I was GOING to marry my highschool sweetheart, have 2.5 kids and move to West Bumblefuckshire, IA... but now that this gay marriage thing is legal, I'm going to go give this whole penis thing a try!"

Why, when Jesus is the supposed model, is there such a "hurray for me, fuck you" mindset with regard to the poor and the downtrodden? Are we not our brother's keeper? Must we not do unto them as if it was Jesus being brought up in West Philly, using 20-year-old textbooks and dodging gunfire on the way to a crumbling school?

Why must patriotism and national pride necessarilly mean the derision of other countries? Did Jesus ever say, "F*ck the Romans... they're just a bunch of wine-drinking Imperials. They've got thousands of Hoplites, all armed with Ballistas and they're all pointing right at us! And don't even get me started on the Samaratians... bunch of lazy, uncaring Philistines! If you like them so much, why don't you go live with them!"

Jesus was a liberal.

Lincoln was a liberal.

Jefferson was a liberal.

Liberals authored the Declaration of Independence.

Liberals ended slavery.

Liberals fought to give women the vote.

Liberals fought the civil rights movement.

Liberals struggled to educate society in science and math, to better understand our place in not just the world, but the universe.

Liberals push for medical advancement to help the spinally-injured walk.

Liberals beg for aid to help Africa rid themselves of the terrible plague of HIV devestating the continent.

Liberals are trying to get us off oil and onto clean, renewable (and cheap) energy that will both save us money AND save our environment.

You know what conservatives did? They fought EVERY SINGLE ONE of those goals. They resisted tooth-and-nail the whole way.

So in closing, NO - I don't think if you agree with Senator Obama's "liberal views" that you are retarded. I think that the negative connotation with which you spit the word "liberal" out means that you don't understand the word, the history of the people it describes, or the message of the most famous liberal to ever live who you claim to worship.

And THAT, in my humble opinion, is retarded.

HA. Sorry guys. My sincerest apologies. It's 11am on a thursday and I had just had my addy-bomb coffee.

It's dangerous. I shouldn't come to this site until at least 1pm, when I don't have my "Kennedy" up and my own farts don't smell quite so rosey.

QUICK! Change topic!

Anyone see Traitor?

Didn't open huge, but I like Cheadle/Pierce as well as spy flicks. Spoiler free - worth seeing?

And on that note, has anyone actually seen Traitor? I honestly don't know one person who has seen it.

You're like the sig gift that keeps on giving.

Speaking of B.O., after such a (relatively) strong weekend (for September), why does it still feel so anemic, financially speaking?
