Pride and Glory (O'Connor, 2008): Ed Norton and Colin Farrell

Trailer #1
Trailer #2

Variety review
Quote:
With its focus on corruption and family angst among Irish-American New York cops, "Pride and Glory" feels like a film that should have been made at least 25 years ago. Or made as a period piece. Heavy, doom-laden and, unfortunately, entirely predictable, director Gavin O'Connor's murky drama applies epic aspirations to a story all too familiar from any number of films and TV shows.
Look forward to watching these two intense actors go head to head, despite the apparently cliched nature of the film.

Sadly, I think this will end up being another We Own the Night.

I feel like this was supposed to come out forever ago... and yes, it does scream We Own The Night.

I'll give it a shot though, love Norton.

The Variety article states that New Line sat on this one for so long, they ran out of time to release it. You'll notice the poster says 'Spring 2008'.

I started a thread on this film months ago.

Wow--not many posts.
I thought the acting was top-notch, but the movie really seemed to drag. TOO LONG.
For such great actors, I guess I was expecting a more compelling film.

Looks like I'll pass then. Because I thought "WOTN" was pretty bad.

I saw this on opening night. It was really tough to choose between this and High School Musical 3 (please note sarcasm)

I thought this was really good. I see how you look at the previews and compare it to "We Own The Night" but this was much better. Norton was awesome as usual and I thought Colin Farrell was great. I'm not going to spoil anything, but that last scene he was in was really good.

I'll buy it when it comes out on DVD.
