Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
Often the marketing dept. for a movie has little to do with the people making the movie (the same is often true of movie trailers - but not always). I'm not even sure if Nolan even gets to "sign off" on these things before they're released.

It could be a case of them phoning it in since it's TDK. The trailers will do all the work, a poster at this stage isn't going to get any real impact.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
Batman Begins and The Dark Knight both had better teaser posters than what was actually used for the theatrical release too. I don't see a problem with the one they're using for The Dark Knight Rises. Most films use generic artwork for their theatrical posters. Studios unfortunately in most cases don't care about the art being used they just want people to know what the film is. This really isn't much different and is simple and to the point.

Why they didn't use this one instead of that crappy fanmade photoshop poster from yesterday, I don't know.

I was going to see this opening weekend, but after looking at those posters I'm going to wait a week or two to see what the reviews and word-of-mouth is like.

The more I see the new Batman pics the more I'm realizing they've made him skinnier.

He was massive in BB cuz he just got off of The Machinist. Nolan told him to bulk up..he did. Too much. They slimmed him down a bit but was still big. In TDK he was in a much better form, no issue.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)
Christian Bale had a beefier build in Batman Begins than he did in The Dark Knight. This was due, in part, to his overdoing his weight gain for the former film (they had to slim him down to fit in the first Batsuit). He became leaner and more athletic for the latter film. However, I always felt he swung too far in the other side of the spectrum since he made a more imposing Batman with his bigger frame.
In Batman Begins:

In The Dark Knight:

And in this latest film he looks even smaller. Im sure i will still enjoy this but its just something that started to stick out to my eyes.

I don't think Bale's weight really matters... even if we wanted to over-think it, wouldn't it make sense he's leaned out over the years, due to the grueling nature of being Batman?
