ALMOST FAMOUS

Greatest movie of the fucking decade, followed by ...

BATTLE ROYALE

2nd greatest movie of the decade.

Memento and Requiem for a Dream might actually be tied for 3rd greatest movie(s) of the decade.

2000 was just a rock solid year for films. So was 2001.

Wow...Pretty good year. I've listed the ones I own from the list ranked in order. There were also some other very good films not included on the list.

1. Memento
2. O Brother, Where Art Thou?
3. Gladiator
4. In the Mood for Love

Other notable films in 2000

Cast Away (would be #3 on my list)
Unbreakable (would be #4)
Almost Famous (would be #5 on my list)
Erin Brockovich
The Dish
Snatch
Chocolat
Finding Forrester
The Family Man
13 Days
Return to Me
What Women Want
Keeping the Faith
Love & Basketball
Frequency
Where the Heart Is
MI2
The Patriot
The Perfect Storm
What Lies Beneath
X-Men
High Fidelity
Meet the Parents
Bounce
Saving Grace
The Cell
Nurse Betty

Very good year, it's almost as good as 1999. I own 17 titles from 2000 maybe the most of any year.

Loved 'Cast Away', as Hanks should have won the Oscar for his role, and Russell Crowe should have won the next year for 'A Beautiful Mind'.

Whew! Cool....wonderful film. 95% on RT. Multiple Oscar nominated. A truly great and smaller film of 2000.

I'm torn between Memento and Almost Famous. I think I like Memento maybe a little better, but I really consider that an early 2001 film, since that's when it was released stateside and that's the year it was eligable for Academy Awards.
Best Writing, Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen

Winner:
Gosford Park (2001) - Julian Fellowes

Other Nominees:
Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain, Le (2001) - Guillaume Laurant; Jean-Pierre Jeunet
Memento (2000) - Christopher Nolan (I); Jonathan Nolan (I) (story)
Monster's Ball (2001) - Milo Addica; Will Rokos
Royal Tenenbaums, The (2001) - Wes Anderson; Owen Wilson (I)

Best Editing

Winner:
Black Hawk Down (2001) - Pietro Scalia

Other Nominees:
Beautiful Mind, A (2001) - Mike Hill (I); Daniel P. Hanley
Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, The (2001) - John Gilbert (IX)
Memento (2000) - Dody Dorn
Moulin Rouge! (2001) - Jill Bilcock

So I guess i'll go with Almost Famous. I consider it one of the most re-watchable films of the past decade -- I never get tired of it.

"Best" film? Memento

Favorite film is a tie between Sordid Lives and Psycho Beach Party.
