It had a unoficial semi-remake called Chaos.

It sucked.

Instead, they'll just cast R.kelly as one of the killers and have him piss on the girls

So did Last House on the Left. The people behind this remake really have nowhere to go but up.

Dumb idea for a remake. LHOTL was the type of dirty, grimy movie that could only come out in the 70's. They will turn this one into another torture porn retread. If Sara Paxton shows any type of skin it might be worth it.

Agree completely. The original is a movie that works mostly through sheer luck, because certainly Craven's handling couldn't have been much worse for the majority of the picture. Actually, apart from the central torture and chase section, which is downright brilliant in its matter-of-fact horror and terror, the rest of the movie, with the dumb cops, comical bad guys, and bland parents preparing their daughter's birthday party, all depicted with inept camerawork and bizarre dissolves, is pretty awful. Some of Hess's folk music ("The Road to Nowhere") in the original works amazingly well, and I doubt a modern version would take risks with such incongruities.
The remake will either be a disaster or cookie-cutter gorn with annoying victims from the Paris Hilton generation.

Garrett Dillahunt (who plays one of the killers) was in two of last year's best movies, No Country for Old Men (Tommy Lee Jones's dimwitted deputy) and The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, which is a surprisingly intriguing pedigree for a movie like this.

You know what would be amazing?

If it was PG-13.

Not gonna happen. It has been officially rated R for sadistic brutal violence including a rape and disturbing images, language, nudity and some drug use.

Yeah, this is supposed to be quite violent and has been getting good reviews from the test screenings.

Doesn't look great by any means but I'll see it as I like the story.

Looks OK, some of the dialog was awful... I sorta liked the cover of "Sweet Child of Mine" over it.

Looks about as crap as I expected. Slick, zero grit or character, dime-a-dozen Hollywood prettyboys and girls, no resemblance to the original.

looks pretty meaningless and not able to be successful and powerful in the ways the original was.

Re: Another 70's horror remake - Last House on the Left

Also don't like the fact that the trailer seemed to tell the entire story in 2 minutes.
