Re: Repo! The Genetic Opera -- Rock opera from LionsGate
I am in the Ben Lyons is a douche camp, but I watched Repo last night and just didn't enjoy it... There was only 2 or 3 songs that I thought were any good - at all...the rest did nothing for me and just felt clumsy and poorly written. Some of the style was nice and I like the comic book frame aspects but the overall story just bugged the shit out of me... I like futuristic sci fi movies, I like horror movies and I love musicals but this one didn't work for me on any front.

I just picked up my copy of the DVD today. Loved the movie! Probably the best thing Paris Hilton has been in which still isn't saying much but I loved it.

http://app.topspin.net/new_artist/18...gn_id=10002745
which has most of the songs from the movie and i assume the movie versions of the songs too (zydrate anatomy is listed as extended)

Agreed. I'm a big fan of musicals, and was even willing to get my past my disgust of Paris Hilton to try this out. Hilton wasn't even the problem. The music is simply awful. If the acting was bad, the production values were poor, or the script was terrible, it could have all been worth it with a great soundtrack. But the music is just awful, the lyrics are terrible...I turned it off after about a half hour. Just simply terrible from beginning to end. I'm not bashing anyone who likes it, but I will say this is not a good title to blind buy, especially if you're blind buying it because you like musicals.

Re: Repo! The Genetic Opera -- Rock opera from LionsGate
I'm sorry to be bumping a thread that will be 3 years old in 8 days, but I recently got this movie on Blu-Ray and I'm confused about the aspect ratio.
I see the DVDTalk review saying the BR aspect ratio is 1:85 and DVD Compare says that as well. But on the back of the case as well as on Amazon it says the aspect ratio is 1:78. I watched it last night and there were two parts where the comic book text seemed a little off to me. If anyone here has the Blu-Ray can you please tell me what aspect ratio it lists on the back of your case?

The accurate theatrical presentation is 1.85:1, but widescreen televisions are in an aspect ratio of 16:9 (which works out to 1.78:1), so sometimes 1.85:1 movies might have their mattes opened up a bit for home video presentation. It's nothing severe enough to detract from the composition of the shots, though.
