Re: Any Good Made for TV Movies from the 70s & 80s?

Although this first one says 1969, I remember it playing on the ABC Tuesday and Wednesday movie of the week in the early 70's. It was super cheesy, but scared the crap out of me as a small kid.

"Daughter of the Mind"

Also scary, "Crowhaven Farm":

Very well done thriller, "Home for the Holidays"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OAjIE281Wzw

Not scary, but I remember this showing a lot. "Maybe I'll Come Home in the Spring":

"Stranger in Our House". And didn't know this was Wes Craven until now.

Re: Any Good Made for TV Movies from the 70s & 80s?

^^Hmm, a little steep, and I'd rather be able to buy it (Bad Ronald) at an etailer as part of a larger order. I'll hang on to my bootleg for now. It's not a great flick anyway.

A couple of good TV movies I saw recently are The Last Child (very good) and You'll Never See Me Again (suspenseful potboiler). Last night I saw The Neon Ceiling, which I can't believe was made for TV because it is totally avant garde and strange and in some ways wonderful. Yet I was left not fully satisfied. Well worth a viewing, though, for those looking for something unique.

Re: Any Good Made for TV Movies from the 70s & 80s?

Some good info in these unbumpable archive threads. The infamous ex-dvdtalk member danol's mention of Goliath Awaits has piqued my interest. The unavailable full film version sounds interesting...

looking for TV Movies on DVD

Name your 5 titles of movies made for *TV* that you want on DVD

Updated my OP to include these threads for reference.

As we mentioned earlier when we announced this release at Comic Con, made-for-TV films typically have had a history of not selling well (aside from some notable exceptions out there that have huge fan bases) so we are testing the waters here to see what happens. If this performs well, we would love to tap into some other great televised favorites and bring to you a "Volume 2" in the future.
Pre-order is up on Amazon. Although these are not my fist choice titles, I'm hoping that the set sells well enough to merit future releases.

Spectre (1977) starring Robert Culp and Gig Young a supernatural mystery written by Gene Roddenberry. Was going to be a series but unfortunately never got past the pilot. I did like it when I saw it on tv. A young John Hurt was in it.

Good call. Michael Gross and David Soul were pretty creepy. Bruce Greenwood was very good also. The climactic shootout at the end was pretty shocking.

What that's one movie where John Travolta played a boy who lived in a bubble and his dad was Mike Brady. I always liked that.

I caught this on one of the Encore channels about 10 years back. Positive I saw some brief nudity during the orgy scene.

Re: Any Good Made for TV Movies from the 70s & 80s?

I remember one with Andy Griffith as some kind of evil sheriff. I think he was trying to kill some guys on motorbikes.

There was one with plane full of blind passengers that crashes on mountain. Pilot killed and blind survivors try to make it down mountain.

It's been mentioned but can't rave enough about Cold Night's Death. Saw this once long time ago and would kill to see it again. The way I remember it:

There's this remote artic research station. The scientists are studying monkeys(bunch of them in cages). I believe they were exposing the monkeys to different kinds of situations to see how they react. Everybody goes nuts and the scientists all kill each other.
Robert Culp and Eli Wallach are sent to investigate what happened. They are there all alone. The monkeys are still there in the cages. Incidents of sabotage begin occurring and they blame each other since they are the only two there. Soon they are at each other's throats, the same thing is happening again.

Spoiler:
Movie ends with Culp and Wallach in a fight to the death, camera pans to one of the monkeys watching, studying the fight with intellectual curiosity. Unspoken conclusion: the monkeys were getting out, causing the sabotage in order to observe the humans' reactions.
