Just saw a commercial during a rerun of "SNL" tonight (8/30) for "Bangkok Dangerous" where it said "Tomorrow" at the end. Tomorrow!? Sunday?? Is there a sneak preview?

What's weird is, seriously, after I first saw Face/Off all those years ago, I was like, "Wow, I really like Nicolas Cage" and would at least consider seeing a movie he was in. But movie after movie released after that that I actually saw, it was just one big letdown after another (Adaptation and Matchstick Men being the exceptions). But The Wicker Man was the final nail in that coffin. I don't think I will ever even consider seeing another of this guy's movies. It sucks because he has done some good work. But I can't even remember the last time I saw a trailer for a Nic Cage movie where I was like, "That looks good" or even "That looks decent". And the first time I saw the trailer for this, I was like, "That looks like shit". The second time it played, I didn't even bother looking at the screen and proceeded to discuss something completely irrelevant with whoever I was with at the time.

Bangkok Dangerous looks alright. I've never been amazed by any of the newer, hip action styles. So I probably won't get too much out of it. But it definately looks worthy of my ticket.

Fast Times is a classic, and Rumble Fish is an undiscovered gem by many. Also, Birdy has arguably one of his best performances (and is completely great as a film). Trade out City of Angels to "so-so" and I agree with the list.
I hear Deadfall features a horrifically cracked-out performance from the Cage, but also Michael Biehn and James Coburn, and that Vampire's Kiss and Red Rock West are pretty good.

Just got back from this. Overall I thought it was only ok. I expected the action scenes to have a little more flair, instead they played fairly straight-up. The script really didn't build a strong enemy for Cage's character. The love/buddy angles were also pretty poorly played out. This lack of emotional commitment to any of the characters really made the final set piece kind of bland.
I'd say wait for rental on this one.
To think....I had to bribe my wife with a 30 minute backrub to see this with me. Oh well...better get my hands warmed up.

I agree. I thought the film was just mediocre at best. There was really nothing that made me care for any of the characters in this film. Cage basically sleep walked through his role and there was nothing emotionally that made me care for his relationship with Fon or even Kong. I was surprised that they casted Fon with a Hong Kong actress (Charlie Yeung) considering that 95% of the cast was Thai. Some of the action scenes weren't very exciting either. I also think the film exploited every single cliche about Bangkok.
I would definitely wait for a rental on this one.

Bangkok BORING was more like it. Nothing happens for like the first hour and anything of interest they manage to make SEEM dull. Just horrible... also, shitty love story crammed in and an even shittier ending. The Pang Brothers US films all lick balls so far.

I thought the love story aspect brought the movie to a near complete stop, yes, dull would be the word... technically the film looked and sounded great, but somewhere along the line, the actual story seemed to get lost.
