Jennifer and David Lynch's SURVEILLANCE (2008)

from aicn:

Quote:
Here's a creepy-ass trailer for a creepy-ass looking movie called SURVEILLANCE. This is not to be confused with the 2006 film called SURVEILLANCE, or last year's SURVEILLANCE out of Hong Kong. Wonder what 2009's or 2010's SURVEILLANCE will be about?

This is written & directed by Jennifer Lynch (BOXING HELENA), and is produced by David Lynch (her father). Not sure wazzup with an American release at this time (it'll be handled by Arclight Films).

The film stars Bill Pullman, French Stewart, Julia Ormond, the great Michael Ironside (am I the only person in the universe who thought he was a kick-ass captain in the final season of SEAQUEST?) and Cheri Oteri (the SNL girl?)

looks pretty interesting to me. i never saw 'boxing helena', anyone know if it was any good?

This looks awesome. I love how the trailer is super long but you don't really know what's happening in the movie.

Sweet. I don't like David Lynch movies, but this doesn't look like one.

Doesn't look abstract enough for a David Lynch film but he's not directing it. Looks good.

Is that nepotism in the air? It might be...

All I can say is that this looks like a passable - not especially good - horror film, and I'd be much more excited if David Lynch was directing and his daughter was locked away with the three people who liked her first film.

Hey! Boxing Helena is extremely underrated. I'll see this one for sure.

It looks like it has some potential, but even more so with Lynch's name attached as producer. I still haven't watched my DVD of Boxing Helena, but this has now motivated me to do so.

Re: Jennifer and David Lynch's SURVEILLANCE (2008)

I read an interview with Jennifer Lynch about this. David Lynch had nothing to do with the production aside from attaching his name, which is what ultimately got the film a distribution deal, I believe. According to Jennifer, she tries not to exploit her dad's success for her own gain, but on the other hand, she wanted the film to be seen and that's what it took.

Just saw this and it was amazing. Loved the cast, story structure, direction. One of the best films I have seen all year. Hope this gets some recognition.

Re: Jennifer and David Lynch's SURVEILLANCE (2008)

I just caught this today. Solid thriller with good performances.

I've got just one complaint
Spoiler:
The twist is waaaaaaaay too obvious. There was not a shred of doubt in my mind about what it is after just a few minutes.

Re: Jennifer and David Lynch's SURVEILLANCE (2008)

I finally got around to watching this on my DVR....

Spoiler:
FAR too obvious- I loved the style, but this was completely ruined by how obvious the twist was...The moment Pullman and Ormond were introduced you knew they were the ones

I liked it despite my having the same feelings about what was spoilered in previous posts. I just went along for the ride and enjoyed the performances of the cast.

I caught it on my local Cable company's PPV. It was $7.99 I think.

It's quite a crazy flick and enjoyable.

HDNet Movies showed it once last month as one of their watch it before it hits the theater titles.
