Final Destination 4 -- In 3-D

Sounds good to me. Part 2 is the only one that didn't seem to take itself too seriously. I'm glad this director is back, and not James Wong or Glen Morgan.
=====================

From Bloody-Disgusting:

David R. Ellis is coming back to New Line for more death, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The director has signed to direct and develop "Final Destination 4," the latest installment of New Line's popular horror series, which the studio plans to shoot in 3-D.

The premise of the series is that even if you cheat death once, a force that is death itself will stalk you until it finishes what is started, usually in a gruesome fashion. While plot details for "FD4" are being kept under wraps, the movie will stand alone: It will feature new teens facing new forms of death.

The script was written by Eric Bress, who co-wrote "Final Destination 2."

Ellis directed the second installment, which was praised for its elaborately orchestrated killings.

New Line's Richard Brener and Walter Hamada are overseeing the project, which has no start date.

The "Final Destination" films have been solid performers for New Line since they debuted in 2000. The first film grossed $53.3 million, the 2003 sequel made $46.5 million and the third, released in 2006, collected $54 million. The movies usually are made for at least half that and do well on home video.

Ellis' credits include "Cellular" and "Snakes on a Plane" for New Line. He also is known for his second unit directing, having worked on such films as "Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World" and "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone." He is in post on the thriller "Asylum" for Hide Park.

The second is my favorite in the series so I'm definitely looking forward to this.

Hmmm... the second is my favorite as well. The third was god-awful so hopefully this puts the series back on track.

Ditto.

Only reason I went to see the third one was because of the free movie ticket in the DVD 2-pack. Never even bought it on DVD.

I liked all 3. I'll be there opening weekend for #4 in 3D.

I liked all 3 as well and the idea of 3-D body parts and gore flying at us and more gratuitous nudity has me there on opening weekend. Blood and tits in 3D! Someone at New Line is a genius.

I remember when 3 was being planned for 3-D (early announcements even had it called Final Destination 3-D, which would be exactly what it says on the tin). Perhaps technology has caught up. I remember someone saying something to the effect of "you know technology has advanced when they start selling porn with it". Well, this isn't porn, but it's horror... close enough.

All 3 of these are fun movies with part 2 easily being my favorite. It's so ridiculously over the top, I love it. I'm excited we're getting a live action 3-D horror flick. I'm betting on plenty of great gore gags considering the crew that's returning.

considering I saw FD3 on King of Prussia's IMAX screen - now that was a trip (my friend thought otherwise and was just generally put off by the graphic violence in every possible way) 3D seems like the next logical step on exploiting the format and Final Destination franchise - bring this puppy on!

Looks kinda cool, on par with the others. Although getting killed in a automated car wish seems kinda silly to me.

while not interested, if ever a movie were made for the 3-D realm, this franchise would be it.

I enjoyed all three but 2 was by far the best. It's great that the writer and the director of 2 are in charge of 4. I'm there opening day.

Looks fun. 2 is the one with the big car wreck right? I love that one as well.

Re: Final Destination 4 -- In 3-D

I watched the first one the other week (first time since its theatrical release). It's held up quite well and is on par with the second installment, imo.

Re: Final Destination 4 -- In 3-D

I'll go see it, especially since it's in 3-D, but I highly doubt it'll be as much fun as part 2. I want that one on BD bad.
