I'm guessing Andrew Stanton also chose the BD cover:

Do you know anything about the marketing thing w/ JC? That'd answer it.
On a serious note..the cover doesn't bother me too much..it's just...meh.

But I'm surprised that for John Carter they'd manage to come up with something worse than what was done for the theatrical marketing material. Just as generic? Sure. But worse? That's a minor feat.

Films like Tron: Legacy and John Carter were put into pre-production on Dick Cook's watch.
When Cook got replaced with Ross, films that should've been hits underpreformed and Ross' films were all fucking disasters.

I actually saw this movie last night. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't great. My biggest problem is I really didn't care about the war between the red and the blue roman guys. I mean it was the least interesting part of the plot. Also all those green martians with four hands looked too similar to me.

Re: PIXAR: John Carter of Mars Trilogy
So Disney lost the rights to John Carter...
Edgar Rice Burroughs Inc:
that is all....
Edgar Rice Burroughs Inc:
"We will be seeking a new partner to help develop new adventures on film as chronicled in the eleven Mars novels Burroughs wrote. This adventure never stops. Along with a new Tarzan film in development by Warner Bros., we hope to have John Carter Of Mars become another major franchise to entertain world-wide audiences of all ages.”

Wonder if it's less "lost the rights" and more "willingly gave up the rights," kind of like the Chronicles of Narnia.
