Re: Transformers 2 (2009) - news, rumors, castings...

I'm not a Transformers fanboy, watched it when I was a kid, but don't remember much about it. That said, the fighting robots in the first flick couldn't make up for just how beyond stupid it was. I was hoping they would take the sequel in a more serious direction, but obviously that's not gonna happen. Pass...

Wait, the Devastator testicles thing wasn't a joke? That's actually in the film? Now that I'd never defend. That's not silly. That's just stupid (possibly even borderline retarded).

Re: Transformers 2 (2009) - news, rumors, castings...

Wow! I thought I was the only guy who ever saw (and loved) Robot Jox!

I find the angle of the Fallen in this movie a little iffy.
Spoiler:
Basically the Fallen is decended of one of the Primes and his brother (whome he destroyed and consumed) was himself called Primes. The Primes created the Allspark. Optimus Prime is of that line. You can guess where this is going and why a certain sacrifice is made. But it bugs me as it kinda makes Optimus Prime's narrative of "we know not where it came from" during the opening monolgue of the first film something on par with Obi Wan's "what I told you was true, from certain point of view".

Meh. I liked it up to the first 40 seconds. Then again, I was never much of a fan of the original song, although it's far superior to the new version. I much prefered Dare. But shouldn't The Touch be Optimus Prime's theme rather than Sam's?

lol..ah yes...that version..anyway...

DIRECTLY on topic: This film looks to bring more of what I want..and some the crap humor as well. All I want is a slightly better film w/ even better Transformer battles. It looks to give me that.

That's a much better trailer(even though most of it is the same as the last).

My daughter works at the theater so eventually we'll get in free and she's looking forward to seeing it. The problem is with these big blockbusters, while the shows are selling out, employees can't get free tickets. It usually takes a week or two before they'll let them bring family.

One of the other trailers I saw showed a very brief scene where it appears Prime gives Starscream a big uppercut. I am glad those two will be fighting. Starscream needs to have alot more screen time, as does Megatron.

Stan Bush did another song for the first movie.

It not bad. Better than the remake of "The Touch Sam's Theme"
Is there a reason Michael Bay does not want any of Stan's songs in the movie?

Because, as seen by the early reviews, hates things that people would enjoy.

But, seriously, although 'Til All Are One is a great song, it would have felt out of place in the first live action movie. It's a song that feels more at home in the animated movie.

As for the classic versions of The Touch and Dare, they would have fit perfectly as brief excerpts heard over Bumblebee's radio.

Only 24% in early reviews at Rottentomatoes

Some of the reviews are quite humerous in how they trash Bay

Re: Transformers 2 (2009) - news, rumors, castings...

No doubt this will have a massive opening week. I keep reading at least $150 million for the first 5 days. But with the reviews has horrible as they are, I think we can expect a massive 2nd weekend drop as well. Does anyone think this one won't earn more than the first one in the US? The first one took in $319 million US.

This one made me laugh:

Despite having lowered the artistic bar to Death Valley levels, director Michael Bay has somehow managed to figure out a way to slither beneath with the flexibility of the pole dancers-in-training that he prefers to hire as his female extras.

Re: Transformers 2 (2009) - news, rumors, castings...

It will be huge but the repeat viewings and fringe viewers (i.e. spouses and S.O's who might just tag along if it got good reviews) won't be going.
